SCK CEN, the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, is teaming up with partners from Italy, France, and Romania to develop lead-cooled small modular reactors (SMRs) in Mol.⚡️

These advanced reactors use lead instead of water, making them more efficient, safer, and producing less nuclear waste. The initiative focuses on mitigating nuclear waste and helping Europe transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy approach. ♻️🔋

Belgium plans to launch commercial SMRs by 2039, pioneering the next generation of clean nuclear energy. 💡

On 17 February 2026, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Manila and the BFBC welcomed Wouter Beke, Belgian Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the ASEAN committee, for an EU-Philippines Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Dialogue at Tavolo, Makati. 🗣️

The dialogue highlighted the EU-Philippines FTA's role in supporting economic growth. 📊
