Client: I don't need HMO because I already have VUL insurance and I am paying the CIB and HIB rider as well.
IMG Educator: That's good to hear maam/sir. But let me share some inputs if it's ok.
๐ฏHMO covers all kinds of illnesses. Every time you get hospitalized for whatever reason, it pays the bill. Recommended.
๐ฏCIB (Critical Illness Benefit) is good because it prepares us for the worst. But you can only use this if your health issue is on the critical illness list. Meaning, you can't claim if it's just a simple migraine or headache. It needs to be a "brain tumor" in order for you to get covered.
๐ฏHIB (Hospital Income Benefit) is also good because it provides daily allowance during the insured's stay in the hospital. Normally around 1,000 or 2,000 per day depending on the premium you're paying. Let's just say you don't have an HMO, only HIB, you've been hospitalized due to severe diarrhea, you stayed in the hospital for 4 days but your bill is 50k because of the antibiotics, room and board, doctor's fees and other fees. HIB only covers 4k or 8k then.
How about the remaining 46k? How can it help?
Client: Really? I didn't know that. I didn't read my policy.
IMG Educator: I'm not saying that you terminate your riders. I'm saying you need to understand what are those for. What are the limitations and how to fill those gaps in? No need to choose. Get them all if you can.
This is a concept our organization, IMG, is sharing to the community.
