In celebration of Heart Month, the hospital conducted its 2nd Flag Raising Ceremony spearheaded by the Administrative, MSS, and PHIC Departments at the DSBMMH Ground. The activity highlighted this year’s theme of raising awareness on heart disease risks and encouraging everyday lifestyle habits that promote cardiovascular wellness.

The program opened with a prayer, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, BARMM Hymn, and DSBMMH Hymn, setting a solemn and unified tone for the ceremony. Everyone looks forward to the hospital’s monthly flag ceremony, as it serves as a regular moment of unity, reflection, and renewed commitment to service among employees.

The celebration also featured engaging activities such as training updates, recognition of birthday celebrants, Zumba, and interactive segments that fostered camaraderie and active participation among staff. A Grand Thanksgiving and Historic Milestone Ceremonies Marking a New Era of Healthcare in Lanao del Sur

Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr., Al Haj Memorial Hospital proudly hosted a historic Thanksgiving and Milestone Ceremony, celebrating a convergence of transformative initiatives that collectively signify a new chapter in the advancement of healthcare services in the Province of Lanao del Sur. The event stood as a powerful testament to strong leadership, meaningful partnerships, and a shared commitment to delivering accessible, resilient, and patient-centered healthcare.

The program formally opened with a warm and gracious welcome delivered by Dra. Hanipha Madale-Montañer, Chief of Hospital, who acknowledged the presence of distinguished guests, local leaders, development partners, and stakeholders. In her message, she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continued trust, collaboration, and support extended to the hospital, emphasizing that every milestone achieved is a reflection of unity and shared purpose.

An inspirational message followed from the Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur, represented by Dr. Fatimah Zarah Umpa, who highlighted the message from PHO II, Dr. Alinader Minalang emphasizing on the importance of sustained collaboration among institutions, healthcare professionals, and partners in strengthening the province’s healthcare delivery system and improving health outcomes requires not only infrastructure, but also shared responsibility and collective action.

A message of support was then delivered on behalf of Congressman Yasser Balindong, represented by Hon. Amir “Gary” Alonto Balindong, son of the late Speaker Atty. Pangalian Balindong- one of the principal authors of Bangsamoro Autonomy Act (BAA) No. 80. The message highlighted the enduring legacy of public service and emphasized the significance of BAA No. 80 in upgrading the hospital from a 25-bed to a 100-bed capacity, marking a decisive step toward expanding access to quality healthcare services in the province.

The Province of Lanao del Sur likewise reaffirmed its support through a message delivered by Provincial Engineer, Engr. Dimasira Macabando, who emphasized the province’s commitment to infrastructure development and institutional strengthening as key drivers of progress.

This was followed by a message from the Vice Mayor of Balabagan, Hon. Edna Ogka-Benito, who expressed the local government’s steadfast support and recognition of the hospital’s vital role in safeguarding the health and well-being of the Bangsamoro community.

Prior to the keynote address, Mr. Ricardo Torres, RE3ACHS Project Manager, delivered a meaningful message highlighting the role of renewable energy solutions in healthcare facilities. He emphasized that sustainable and resilient energy systems are essential in ensuring uninterrupted health services, aligning healthcare development with climate-responsive and future-ready solutions. This was followed by a message from Dr. Ainee Marohomsalic, in behalf of PhilHealth BARMM Regional Vice President, Atty. Dagoroan Macarambon II, who underscored PhilHealth’s vital role in healthcare financing and its support for initiatives that strengthen hospital services and improve patient access to quality care.

The highlight of the program was the much-anticipated message from the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Kadil M. Sinolinding Jr., who reaffirmed the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to inclusive, accessible, and quality healthcare for all. He emphasized that the hospital’s continuous expansion and modernization embody a shared vision of strengthening the health system, improving service delivery, and ensuring that no one is left behind.

The program concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Dr. Romeo Montañer, who expressed profound appreciation to all leaders, partners, and stakeholders for their dedication and collaborative efforts. He reiterated that the milestones celebrated are not endpoints, but foundations for further growth and service.

Following the program proper, a series of ceremonial activities further highlighted the significance of the occasion. The Unveiling of Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 80 formally marked the hospital’s transition from a 25-bed to a 100-bed capacity facility. The Act was principally authored by the Minister of Health, Hon. Kadil M. Sinolinding Jr., with the support of eighteen (18) principal authors and forty (40) co-authors, whose collective leadership and legislative commitment made this historic upgrade possible.

This was accompanied by a thanksgiving tribute to all the principal and co-authors of the Act, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the hospital’s growth and to the advancement of healthcare services in the Province of Lanao del Sur. A Pledge of Commitment was then signed by the guests, symbolizing their continued support and shared responsibility in advancing the hospital’s mission and sustaining its development.

Subsequently, the turnover of medical equipment under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF), initiated by the Minister of Health, Hon. Kadil M. Sinolinding Jr., MD, was conducted. This included the Medical Waste Autoclave, as well as the Microsurgical Eye Operating Microscope and Ophthalmic Equipment, significantly strengthening the hospital’s capacity for safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible medical waste management, while enhancing its capability to deliver advanced and specialized ophthalmologic services.

This was followed by the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the 60- kWp Hybrid Ground Mount Solar PV System, funded by UNDP, From the People of Japan under the RE3ACHS Program implemented in close partnership with the Province of Lanao del Sur. This initiative marked a significant stride toward sustainable energy use, resilience, and reduced operational costs, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services.

Further milestones included the Groundbreaking of the Hospital Gymnasium, generously donated by Governor Dr. Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr., reinforcing the importance of holistic health and wellness by promoting physical well-being, rehabilitation, and overall quality of life for both patients and hospital personnel.

The culmination of the day’s activities was the ceremonial visit to the Expansion of the Dialysis Center from a One-Storey to a Two-Storey Building- a landmark development that reflects the hospital’s strong commitment to improving life-saving services. Notably, the expanded dialysis center is now equipped with an elevator—the first among hospitals in the Province of Lanao del Sur- ensuring safe, dignified, and convenient access for dialysis patients. This pioneering feature sets a new standard for accessibility, inclusivity, and patient-centered healthcare infrastructure in the province.

DSBMMH Physicians’ General Assembly

Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr Al Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) successfully conducted last January 10, 2026 its Physicians’ General Assembly under the leadership of the Chief of Hospital, Dra. Hanipha Madale-Montañer, reaffirming the institution’s collaborative leadership, continuous improvement, and quality healthcare service delivery.

The General Assembly served as an important platform for open communication and strategic alignment among the hospital’s physicians. Discussions included a presentation of the hospital profile, providing an overview of current capacities, service coverage, and operational status. Updates on ongoing and proposed hospital projects were also presented, focusing on initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure, enhancing clinical services, and improving overall patient care.

The Hospital Development Plan was presented to provide physicians with an overview of the hospital’s planned programs and strategic direction. Inputs, concerns, and recommendations were gathered to help improve systems and further enhance service delivery.

First Flag Ceremony of 2026

The year 2026 formally commenced with the First Synchronized Flag Ceremony, held on January 5, 2026, at the DSBMMH Grounds, in solidarity with the Integrated Provincial Health Office- Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS).

This ceremonial gathering was hosted by the Special Areas Unit (ICU, Dialysis, and ASU) of Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al‑Haj Memorial Hospital, reflecting unity, discipline, and shared responsibility among healthcare workers as the new year begins.

Aligned with the Department of Health (DOH) advocacy, the ceremony was also observed in line with Autism Consciousness Week, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to inclusivity, awareness, and compassionate care for all, especially individuals on the autism spectrum.

The program formally opened with a Prayer, followed by the National Anthem, Bangsamoro Hymn, and DSBMMH Hymn, rendered through the collaborative efforts of the Dialysis Staff, ASU and ICU Staff, and key personnel of the hospital.

A message and Panunumpa were led by Dra. Hanipha D. Madale-Montañer, Chief of Hospital II, reinforcing the values of accountability, service, and professionalism.

Program updates were also presented, highlighting institutional capacity-building activities attended by hospital personnel, including the 61st PAMET National Annual Convention, Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Online Training, Halal Competency Training, Program Implementation Review, and Inter-agency coordination meetings for Hajj medical certification and Clinical management of violence survivors, demonstrating continuous learning and inter-sectoral collaboration.

The activity concluded with a Zumba session facilitated by the Special Areas Unit, promoting wellness and camaraderie among staff, followed by closing announcements from the hospital leadership.

Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding the hospital through challenges while sustaining morale, unity, and a clear direction toward excellence.

The program formally opens with an invocation, grounding the celebration in faith and gratitude, followed by the Opening Message of the Chief of Hospital, setting the tone for the evening. Montañer, Al Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) proudly attained a 4-Star Green Rating under the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) System, marking a major milestone in its commitment to sustainable and climate-resilient healthcare. The recognition was officially conferred during the 2025 Green Health Facilities Recognition Ceremony, organized by the Department of Health’s Health Facility Development Bureau at Swiss-BelHotel, Manila.

Under the dedicated leadership of Chief of Hospital II, Dra. Hanipha Madale Montañer, DSBMMH emerged as the sole MOH-BARMM–owned hospital to receive a 4-Star distinction this year—an accomplishment that reaffirms its dedication to green, safe, and future-ready health service delivery.
