DSBMMH participated in the 2025 Year-End Program Review and 2026 Strategy Framework Development of the Ministry of Health–BARMM, Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur, held on December 21–23, 2025 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

This meaningful gathering brought together health leaders and implementers to reflect on the accomplishments of 2025, address gaps and challenges, and collectively chart a clearer, stronger, and more responsive health strategy for 2026. It was a valuable space for collaboration, learning, and reaffirming our shared commitment to quality and people-centered health service delivery.

Thanksgiving Night 2025 of Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital is a celebration of gratitude, excellence, and shared success.

This meaningful gathering marks the culmination of a year shaped by dedication, resilience, and collective effort. Under the phenomenal and visionary leadership of our Chief of Hospital, Dra. Hanipha Madale-Montañer, the institution continued to grow stronger enhancing service delivery, empowering employees, and fostering a culture anchored on professionalism, compassion, and accountability. Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding the hospital through challenges while sustaining morale, unity, and a clear direction toward excellence.

The program formally opens with an invocation, grounding the celebration in faith and gratitude, followed by the Opening Message of the Chief of Hospital, setting the tone for the evening. Her message reflects not only administrative leadership, but a deep appreciation for every employee whose hard work and sacrifices form the backbone of the institution’s success.

As part of the celebration, the night comes alive with band performances and DSBMMH Got Talent 2.0, showcasing the creativity, confidence, and unity of various hospital departments. These performances highlighted that beyond duty and responsibility, the institution thrives on camaraderie and shared joy.

Adding excitement to the evening are the multiple raffle draws, featuring major prizes such as Samsung and Oppo cellphones, speakers, a washing machine, a refrigerator, and 44-inch and 55-inch smart televisions, among many other prizes. These raffles symbolize appreciation- a simple yet meaningful way of giving back to employees who continue to give their best every day.

One of the most anticipated and heartfelt segments of the program is the Service Recognition and Awarding Ceremonies, honoring employees who have rendered 30, 25, 20, 15, and 10 years of dedicated service. These individuals stand as pillars of the institution, embodying loyalty, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to public service.

The celebration further recognizes Outstanding Employees whose exemplary performance, integrity, teamwork, and compassion have set standards worthy of emulation. Their recognition reflects the Chief of Hospital’s commitment to nurturing a performance-driven yet people-centered workplace.

A defining highlight of the evening is Golden Pillar Award to Dr. Romeo G. Montañer, in recognition of his enduring legacy, invaluable contributions, and decades of service that have laid a strong foundation for the hospital’s growth and stability. DSBMMH Achieves 4-Star Green Viability Assessment Rating
The Sole MOH-BARMM Hospital to Earn This Distinction

LANAO DEL SUR - The Dr. Serapio B. Montañer, Al Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) proudly attained a 4-Star Green Rating under the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) System, marking a major milestone in its commitment to sustainable and climate-resilient healthcare. The recognition was officially conferred during the 2025 Green Health Facilities Recognition Ceremony, organized by the Department of Health’s Health Facility Development Bureau at Swiss-BelHotel, Manila.

Under the dedicated leadership of Chief of Hospital II, Dra. Hanipha Madale Montañer, DSBMMH emerged as the sole MOH-BARMM–owned hospital to receive a 4-Star distinction this year—an accomplishment that reaffirms its dedication to green, safe, and future-ready health service delivery.

This year’s evaluation highlighted remarkable improvements across key areas of the GVA framework, particularly in Environmentally Resilient Health Facility, Indoor Environment Quality, and Sustainable Operations. These advancements validated the hospital’s strong compliance and warranted its elevation to the prestigious 4-Star classification.

A Commitment of Care: ₱20 Million Assistance for DSBMMH

In a powerful demonstration of unity and shared commitment to public health, the Bangsamoro Government through the Ayudang Medikal Mula sa Bangsamoro Government (AMBaG) Program allocated ₱20 million to Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Kr Al Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) today, November 28, 2025.

Under the overall leadership of Program Manager Mohd Asnin K. Pendatun, and with on-site facilitation by Deputy Program Manager Saharan Jurjani J. Silongan, the fund was formally turned over to the Chief of Hospital II, Dr. Hanipha Madale-Montañer. This essentially reflects the Bangsamoro Government’s unwavering dedication to strengthening healthcare delivery and expanding support for patients served both within and outside the region.

The ₱20-million allocation will significantly enhance DSBMMH’s capacity to sustain and broaden its provision of completely free, quality, and accessible medical services. This ensures that indigent and vulnerable patients continue receiving comprehensive care without facing financial barriers further empowering the hospital to fulfill its goal of providing dignified and compassionate healthcare for all.

The AMBaG Program remains a vital arm of the Bangsamoro Government, serving as a bridge of medical support for Bangsamoro families regardless of where they seek treatment. With this new allocation, DSBMMH is better equipped to strengthen its service capacities, accommodate more patients, upgrade essential operations, and reinforce its role as a reliable healthcare institution in the region.

This initiative stands as part of the broader efforts of the Office of the Chief Minister, led by Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr., Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) marks another milestone as it becomes the only hospital in the entire MOH BARMM owned hospitals to receive an award under the Hospital Best Practices in Infection Prevention and Control – Year 12.

Among more than 600 hospital entries nationwide, only 80 entries were selected and DSBMMH earned a place among the best.

This remarkable achievement was recognized during the Philippine Hospital Association 76th Annual National Convention and Exhibits held at the Manila Hotel, where DSBMMH received an Award for Level 1 – Best Hospital Practices in Infection Prevention & Control Year 12, specifically under the category Best in Management in Infection Prevention Among Healthcare Workers.

The award was received by the Chief of Hospital II, Dra Hanipha Madale- Montañer and Executive Consultant Dr. Romeo Montañer together with the Infection Prevention and Control Committee. The award carries a message that defines the heart of the institution:
“Infection Prevention and Control: Our Commitment, Your Well-being.”

For a hospital from Malabang to stand out on a national stage is a testament to the unwavering dedication of its health workers, the discipline embedded in its systems, and its relentless pursuit of safe and quality care. Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr., Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Office of MP Ahmad Amir A. Balindong and the Ministry of Health BARMM for the turnover of the Bangsamoro Health Outreach Program for Everyone (B-HOPE) 2025 fund, held today November 10, 2025, at DSBMMH, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.

DSBMMH received ₱1,000,000.00 financial assistance under the B-HOPE initiative, highlighting the continuing effort of the Bangsamoro Government to strengthen healthcare systems and ensure accessible, quality, and compassionate services for all.

The fund aims to support hospital operations that address patient needs, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver efficient and responsive medical care to the people. It also seeks to empower health facilities by providing financial resources for essential services and patient-centered initiatives that promote sustainable healthcare development in the region.

The hospital management extends its sincere appreciation to MP Ahmad Amir A. Strengthening Mental Health Services through MHGAP Supportive and Clinical Supervision

The Ministry of Health – BARMM, through its Mental Health Unit, conducted the Post-Training Supportive and Clinical Supervision for mhGAP-trained doctors and nurses on November 3, 2025, at Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Alhaj Memorial Hospital.

This initiative was held in support of Republic Act No. 11036, otherwise known as the “Mental Health Act of 2018,” which underscores the importance of integrating mental health promotion and services in communities, educational institutions, and workplaces. The activity aimed to enhance the competencies of non-specialist healthcare providers in delivering quality, evidence-based mental health care using the mhGAP Intervention Guide (version 2.0).

Highlights included updates on the Medicine Access Program for Mental Health, case presentations from mhGAP-trained healthcare workers, Dr Wedad Zainoden-Paudac and Mr. Jaime Dineros, Jr.,RN, MAN, and updates on Mental, Neurological, and Substance Use (MNS) indicators in Lanao del Sur.

Through initiatives like this, the Ministry of Health – BARMM continues to champion mental health advocacy empowering healthcare workers, improving service delivery, and ensuring that every individual in the region receives the care, compassion, and understanding they deserve.

The Integrated Provincial Health Office of Lanao del Sur (IPHO-LDS) conducted the Synchronized Flag Ceremony and Launching of the New Biometrics System today November 3, 2025, via Google Meet.

The Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr. Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) proudly participated in the activity together with other District Hospitals and Rural Health Units across the province. The event highlighted unity, discipline, and the collective commitment of health workers as the province embraces digital innovation and improved attendance monitoring.

In line with this, DSBMMH also held its Flag Ceremony in celebration of International Radiology Week, with the theme emphasizing the vital role of medical imaging professionals in advancing patient care. The program was hosted by the Tri-Allies - the Laboratory, Radiology, and Pharmacy Departments, showcasing teamwork and collaboration.

National Validation for the 2025 Red Orchid Award (ROA)

The Ministry of Health – BARMM, through the Chronic Respiratory Diseases Program, successfully conducted the National Validation for the Red Orchid Award 2025 at the Dr. Serapio B. Montañer Jr Al Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) on October 29, 2025.

The activity was facilitated by representatives from the Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Philippines) in coordination with the Regional Validators from MOH-BARMM.

This validation aimed to assess the hospital’s compliance with the WHO’s MPOWER framework in promoting 100% Tobacco-Free Environments - ensuring that smoking, va**ng, and any form of to***co use are strictly prohibited within hospital premises. This initiative reinforces the hospital’s commitment to protect patients, visitors, and staff from the harmful effects of to***co smoke and to promote a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for all.

DSBMMH Conducts Successful Blood Letting Activity

The Dr. Serapio B. Montañer, Jr. Al-Haj Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH), in coordination with the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Blood Center, successfully conducted a Blood Letting Activity on October 30, 2025, at the Public Health Unit.

This meaningful event aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the importance of sustaining a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in need.

A total of 67 blood donors participated in this life-saving initiative. Each donor’s contribution serves as a beacon of hope and compassion, embodying the true spirit of service and care.
