BRIEF HISTORY OF PHILIPPINE ROTC

In 1862,ROTC was established in the United States as a college elective focusing on military training and discipline.Many countries that were connected with the United States then followed the same program including the Republic of the Philippines.On the brink of World War II in the year 1912,the Americans established the first Philippine ROTC unit in the University of the Philippines even after the country gained its independence,the ROTC program remained a college elective for all Filipino students.

We are reaching out to extend our helping hand to our fellow citizens affected by the recent fire incident in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City. Many families have lost their homes and belongings, and they are in urgent need of our support.

The City of Malabon University ROTC Unit conducted its 12th training day for Military Science 1. Members of the Training Staff, together with GMA and Cadet Officers led by CMUROTCU Admin NCO under the supervision of COL ROMMEL M AGPAOA INF (GSC) PA, Commandant, organized the MS-1 students into a battalion formation for accounting and checking of attendance at 0700H.

At 0800H, the cadets have executed pasa masid at the grounds of City of Malabon University, led by Cpl Ariel P Gabriel (QMS) PA. At about 0840H, the cadets remained at the CMU ground for the lecture about Basic Life Support, led by Pvt Cedrick Banay PA (Res) - Teaching Basic Life Support equips individuals with vital skills to save lives during emergencies, ensuring quick response, confidence, and readiness to help when it matters most.

At 1150H, the cadets formed for preparation for dismissal. At exactly 1200H, the cadets were dismissed and the training day ended.

The City of Malabon University ROTC Unit conducted its 11th training day for Military Science 1, held at the CMU Campus. Members of the Training Staff, together with GMA and Cadet Officers led by CMUROTCU Admin NCO under the supervision of COL ROMMEL M AGPAOA INF (GSC) PA, Commandant, organized the MS-1 students.

The training day started with the mass singing of the National Anthem and was followed by the invocation by C/MAJ DAVE BRYAN L AZORES 1CL. Shortly after, DR PORFIRIO R CATOLICO JR, NSTP Director, gave his inspiring welcoming remarks.

The CMU ROTCU Commandant, COL ROMMEL M AGPAOA INF (GSC) PA, delivered his introductory remarks to the guest speaker of the said event. It was a distinct honor and privilege to welcome LTGEN ROLANDO JOSELITO D BAUTISTA (RET), former Commanding General of the Philippine Army and Commander of the Joint Task Force Marawi who led the successful five-month siege in liberating Marawi City. Through his enlightening talk titled โ€œLeadership Journey: A Viewpoint,โ€ he shared invaluable insights drawn from his experiences in the battlefield and in leadershipโ€”emphasizing courage, service, and dedication to duty. He also underscored the vital role of the youth as catalysts in nation-building, inspiring every cadet to lead with integrity and purpose. Truly, his visit marks a memorable and honorable moment for our humble school and ROTC unit.

The City of Malabon University ROTC Unit conducted its 10th training day for Military Science 1, held at the CMU Campus, Pampano Corner, Maya-maya St., Brgy. Longos, Malabon City.

Members of the Training Staff, together with GMA and Cadet Officers led by Cpl Rogie M Lacamento (Inf) PA, Admin NCO under the supervision of COL ROMMEL M AGPAOA INF (GSC) PA, Commandant, organized the MS-1 students into a battalion formation for accounting and checking of attendance.

At 0830H, the cadets proceeded to their respective classrooms for the lectures on Cyber Security Awareness, Survival Techniques, and Sanitation, which were tackled by 1LT ALWIN VIDAL R GAPUZAN PA (RES), 2LT MICHAEL JOHN H AQUINO (AGS) PA (RES), Sgt Narciso H Paray PA (Res), Sgt Manny Cardenas PA (Res), Sgt Cyrus Mesina PA (Res), Sgt Mc Daniel P Lauzon PA (Res), Sgt Japeth A Sapungan PA (Res), Sgt Antonette B Sandayan PA (Res), Sgt Elias V Nepomuceno PA (Res), Pvt John Paul Corporal PA (Res).

The purpose of cyber security awareness, survival techniques, and hygiene and sanitation is to develop disciplined, responsible, and well-prepared cadets and equip students to protect digital information, adapt and endure in challenging situations, and maintain health and cleanlinessโ€”essential traits for leadership, readiness, and service.

At about 1150H the same day, the cadets formed at their respective platoons for dismissal. At exactly 1200H the MS-1 students left the CMU quadrangle with no incident transpired.
