Demonstrating its commitment to quality healthcare, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Malimono, through its Rural Health Unit (RHU), underwent an initial assessment by the Caraga Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Center for Health Development (CHD) Caraga in preparation for its accreditation as a Primary Care Facility.

The activity evaluated the RHU’s readiness in service delivery, facility standards, human resources, equipment, and compliance with national guidelines, including the licensing of its Clinical Laboratory and Ambulance services. An ocular inspection of key service areas and support units was conducted to ensure readiness and adherence to standards.

This initiative highlights the LGU’s strong commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and delivering safe, efficient, and accessible services. Once accredited and fully licensed, the RHU will enhance access to comprehensive care, reduce unnecessary referrals, and improve health outcomes for the people of Malimono.

We warmly congratulate Barangay Cantapoy for successfully achieving Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) Status this year. This achievement extend our sincere appreciation to the ZOD Validation Team for their invaluable support and guidance: Dr. Monaliza Mantilla – SB Member on Health, Dr. Leonard P. Abraham – Municipal Health Officer, Josephine Hermoso, RSI II, Cenhil Mae B. Mapa, RN, Loralie Sumadia, RM, and Majenita Cabañas – BHW President.

Our heartfelt congratulations to PB Adelard Mantala and the Barangay Council, Sir Reynaldo Perral, and the dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) whose leadership, and tireless efforts played a vital role in mobilizing the community and making this achievement possible.

Barangay Cantapoy is now the second to the last barangay in the municipality to achieve ZOD Status, bringing our municipality one step closer to becoming a Municipal-wide Zero Open Defecation.

Vamos Malimono!
