Davao Occidental General Hospital Marks Successful Women's Month Celebration 2025
In a remarkable culmination of the 2025 Women's Month celebration, the Davao Occidental General Hospital (DOGH) embraced the national theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor: Aangat ang Bukas Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas,” highlighting the vital role of women across all sectors of society.
The event, spearheaded by the DOGH Social Service Department under the Gender and Development (GAD) program with the support of Medical Center Chief I, Dr. Glinard L. Quezada, FPSGS, MBA-HA, FPCS, kicked off early in the morning with a coastal cleanup drive at selected coastal areas in Barangay Lacaron. The activity, conducted in collaboration with the DOGH Green Viability, aimed not only to clean the environment but also to promote a sense of community responsibility, emphasizing the importance of preserving nature for future generations.
In the afternoon, a comprehensive discussion on Republic Act No. 7192—otherwise known as the Women in Development and Nation-Building Act—was held. This landmark legislation plays a pivotal role in advancing women’s empowerment, ensuring that women are included in national development processes. The forum provided valuable insights into the legal frameworks that support women’s rights and their indispensable contributions to building a more inclusive society.
Ergo, DOGH Social Service Department extended its gratitude to Atty. Walbert M. Goling of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) – Davao Occidental for her expertise and thought-provoking discussion on the intricacies and legal structures of RA 7192. Her contributions helped deepen the understanding of the law's relevance in empowering women in all aspects of life.
As the day drew to a close, the significance of the 2025 Women's Month celebration at DOGH was underscored: recognizing the extraordinary contributions of women in the healthcare sector. The event emphasized that competence and skill are not defined by gender, and that every woman’s contribution is invaluable. DOGH’s commitment to breaking stereotypes and promoting inclusivity was evident, as it reaffirmed its collective goal of fostering a world where all individuals, regardless of gender, can thrive.
Today, and every day, women shine as the true champions of change.
