HIV cases among Filipino youth have surged by 500% — now the fastest-rising epidemic in the world.

The Department of Health (Philippines) recorded 6,703 new cases from January to April 2025, averaging 56 diagnoses per day — a sharp jump from 39 daily cases during the same period last year.

Most infections continue to occur among Filipinos aged 15 to 34, with s*xual contact, particularly among men who have s*x with men, remaining the dominant mode of transmission.
