Celebrating Nutrition Month 2025 at St. Catherine Academy, Mambusao, Capiz.
With the theme “Food Security, Maging Priority, Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, this year’s celebration shone a light on the importance of health, nutrition, and food security as a basic right of every Filipino child.
The program was gracefully hosted by Ms. Lara Joy Caberte, RSW, and warmly opened with inspiring words from Dr. Merlita Navarra, School Principal. The celebration was made more vibrant with a lively Nutrition Dance presentation by the SCA Dancers, followed by the Rationale of the Program shared by PHU Head Jeffrey D. Abunas.
The pupils gained valuable knowledge through the talks of our distinguished speakers:
Ms. Catherine Marie Besa, MAN, RN, IPCN – highlighting the importance of proper handwashing in disease prevention, and Ms. Anelyn Marie Erfe, Nutritionist – discussing the practical guide of Pinggang Pinoy for balanced and healthy eating.
In recognition of their dedication, certificates of appreciation were awarded to our speakers. To end the day on a joyful note, pupils were treated with healthy snacks and tokens, a reminder of the importance of choosing nutritious food.
The program was meaningfully concluded with words of gratitude from Ms. Maila Martelino, Administrative Officer, whose heartfelt message inspired everyone to continue prioritizing good health and nutrition.
Special thanks to Esther’s Bakeshop for their generosity as one of our valued sponsors — your support helped make this celebration more meaningful and memorable.
Our deepest thanks to the organizers, teachers, health workers, and most especially the pupils, for making this celebration truly memorable. Together, we can uphold the call that food security and proper nutrition are not just priorities, but rights for all.
Let us continue to champion nutrition and health — for our children, our community, and our future.

PHU Celebrates Diabetes Awareness with a Special Lecture
Today, we at the Public Health Unit came together to mark an important occasion — our Diabetes Awareness Celebration. We were privileged to welcome Dr. Christian Docdocil, Internal Medicine Specialist, who generously shared his knowledge and insights on this condition that affects so many lives.
Dr. Docdocil guided us through an enlightening discussion on what diabetes truly is, the risk factors that increase our chances of developing it, and the vital role of proper diet and healthy lifestyle choices in both prevention and management. His words reminded us that awareness is more than just information — it is empowerment.
Diabetes does not only affect individuals; it impacts families, communities, and generations. By learning together, we take meaningful steps toward building a healthier future. Today’s lecture was not just about medical facts, but about hope, responsibility, and collective action.
Let us carry forward the lessons we learned today — to watch over our health, to support loved ones in their journeys, and to spread the message that through awareness and care, we can fight diabetes together.
Because every step towards awareness is a step towards a healthier tomorrow.

Tomorrow, we will be celebrating Nutrition Month together with the bright and energetic Grade School pupils of St. Catherine Academy. This special event is not only about learning but also about living the values of health, wellness, and proper nutrition.

As part of our celebration, we have prepared meaningful activities for the children:

🧼 Hand Washing Demonstration led by our Infection Prevention and Control Program, teaching the importance of cleanliness in protecting our health.

🥗 “Pinggang Pinoy” Presentation by our very own Nutritionist, Ms. Anelyn Erfer, to guide the students on making healthier food choices.

This year’s theme is truly timely and relevant:
“Food Nutrition Security, Maging Priority: Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin.” 🍎🍚🥦
It reminds us that access to nutritious food is not just a need—but a right for everyone.

We warmly invite our MDH family to be part of this celebration. Your presence and support will inspire the students and strengthen our commitment to promoting health, nutrition, and wellness in our community. Together, let us continue to nurture a healthier and brighter future for the next generation.
