Together with our OIC MHO, Jenie B Lahora , Undergraduate Students of BS Health Sciences from Ateneo de Manila University paid courtesy visits to the Acting Municipal Mayor, Alfonso Benjie Lahora and Municipal Administrator, Jameco Dayanghirang .

They are here in Manay to conduct a research study at the Manay Municipal Health Office of Manay from July 25 to August 1, 2025. The research study is entitled, "Language Discordance in Healthcare Delivery among Doctors to the Barrios and Patients in Davao Oriental: A Mixed Methods Comparative Analysis. "

It focuses on how language discordance between the Doctor to the Barrio (DTTB) and local patients may affect the quality of healthcare services.

Our OIC MHO attended the Technical Working Group (TWG) Meeting on Changing Diabetes in Children (CDiG) at Honey's Hotel, Mati, City. The meeting aims to strengthen our Inter-Agency collaboration in the implementation of the CDiG Program, focusing on self-management education, policy support, and activity planning.

LGU Manay thru the Municipal Health Office officially launches the celebration of the Nutrition Month guided with the theme, "𝙎𝙖 𝙋𝙋𝘼𝙉, 𝙎𝙖𝙢𝙖-𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙉𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩, 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙨𝙖 𝙇𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙩" and the sub theme " 𝙁𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙉𝙪𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮! 𝙎𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙣, 𝙆𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣! "

This theme highlights the importance of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PLAN) and the collective responsibility we all share in ensuring adequate nutrition for everyone, across all life stages.

Nutrition is the foundation of a healthy life. It provides the energy we need to learn, work and play. It strengthens our immune systems, preventing us from acquiring infections.

This month, our office have a variety of activities to engage, from informative talks and interactive workshops to fun games. Among these activities are the following:

1. Launching of Nutrition Month
2. Deworming
3. Oral Health Examination
4. Physical Examination
5. Early Detection of Kidney Diseases
6. Symposium for Obese and Overweight Children along with their Mother's
7. OPT
8. Supplemental Feeding
9. IEC
10. Medical Consultation for PWDs

These activities are in collaboration with the Office of our Municipal Mayor Jon Marco Dayanghirang thru our Municipal Administrator, Jameco Dayanghirang, VM Alfonso Benjie Lahora Jr., Municipal Councilor Mae Dayanghirang Llavore, RN, Municipal Councilor Emarfel Nino Panuayan, Municipal Councilor Mayang Lumando, PB Kim Moralizon, Doph Manay headed by Dr. Ariel-Gustilo Maghari thru their Nutrition Dietician maam Eleonor Burgos, MSWDO headed by maam Lilian Apas Dayanghirang thru the Child Development Workers.

MHO encourages the community to participate actively in the various activities planned throughout the month. Together, let us use this month as an opportunity to learn, share and grow together in our understanding of nutrition towards achieving a healthier and more nourished community!

𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗪𝗜𝗧 𝗞𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔 𝗕𝗜𝗦𝗬𝗢

Manay, Davao Oriental– The Local Government Unit of Manay thru the Municipal Tourism Council and Municipal Health Office of Manay held the Department of Health (DOH) – Davao Region “SayAwit Kontra Bisyo (Talent Showcase Contest)” on June 28, 2025.

The said competition was conducted in celebrations of ‘No Smoking Month’ and Pride Month which aimed to provide opportunities for participants to showcase their creativity, style, talents, and skills through the art of singing, dancing, playing instruments and other worthwhile and productive activities that promote healthier lifestyles, and increase awareness of the consequences of alcohol, to***co, and illicit drug use.

Present during this noteworthy activity were Municipal Councilor Elect Sunshine Rosa Pang , PHO HEPO maam Darl Fernandez, OIC MHO Jenie B Lahora , OIC MPDO sir Jan Michael Belena, DTTB Dr. Juvette Ann Esteban and HEPO Manay Jo Tengson.

𝗠𝗛𝗢 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗜

Today, June 26, 2025 MHO Team headed by OIC MHO Jenie B Lahora conducted School Health Examination among children ages 0-5 years old.

The following were the services given:

1. Medical Examination and Consultation
2. Dental Examination
3. Urinalysis

Together with the Officer In Charge of the Manay Municipal Health Office were Dr. Juvette Ann Esteban, Dr Sarah Importante , maam Roselyn Mambulao Batiao , maam Ber Kim Ly , maam Romaseth Batiao , maam Jessa Mae Maduyag and sir Albert Lance Mandabon.

School health examinations for children aged 0-5 are crucial for early detection of potential health issues, which can significantly impact their development, learning, and overall well-being. These screenings can identify conditions like vision or hearing problems, developmental delays, or other health concerns that, if addressed early, can be easier to treat and manage.

Thus, the School Principal, sir Melvin Maynagcot and School Nurse maam Abegail B. Idong conveyed their appreciation to LGU Manay headed by our Mayor Jon Marco Dayanghirang thru Municipal Health Office because this proactive approach helps them ensure that their school children are healthy and prepared to learn.
