"My Breast Cancer Story"
In June 2021, I joined Pru Life UK as a Financial Advisor.
Never in my life did I imagine that a few years later, I would become my own client — filing an insurance claim not for someone else, but for myself.
In January 2025, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage 1A HER2 Positive — an aggressive type of cancer.
✅ No smoking
✅ No alcohol
✅ No family history
✅ Healthy eating
But still… it happened.

Good thing I had prepared early. I had two life insurance policies with Pru Life UK — PAA+ and Elite 15 — and they became my shield during the toughest battle of my life. Because of these, I didn’t have to touch my savings or borrow money. I was able to focus on one thing: healing.

💉 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 & 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
• Biopsy – ₱15,000 (the test that confirmed my diagnosis)
• Mastectomy with Breast Reconstruction – ₱300,000 (removal of one breast to stop the cancer from spreading)
• Chemotherapy (6 cycles) – ₱31,000/session (destroys cancer cells to prevent them from multiplying)
• Doctor’s PF – ₱10k–₱15k per cycle
• Trastuzumab (18 sessions) – ₱56,000/session (a targeted therapy for HER2-positive cancer to stop the growth of cancer cells)
• Tamoxifen – ₱800 per box (hormone therapy that lowers the chance of recurrence for the next 10 years)
• Filgrastim – ₱2,000 each × 4 pcs per cycle × 6 months (boosts white blood cells after chemo)
On top of this are weekly blood tests, 2D echo, scans, and other maintenance medicines.
📌 And until now, my targeted therapy sessions are still ongoing.

💬 𝐌𝐲 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞:
The process was surprisingly fast. After I submitted my documents, the benefit was credited to my account in no time.
Special thanks to my Branch Manager, Jhovy Tungcul-Torres, who personally helped me follow up with Pru Life UK’s Claims Department.
Because of this support:
✅ I was able to pay my hospital bills right away during my mastectomy
✅ I avoided debt and financial stress

Bakit parang ang dami mong kasama sa gastos, pero wala sa ipon?

Masaya ‘yung may barkadang laging handang gumastos gala dito, kainan doon, trip everywhere. Pero kapag nagdesisyon kang seryosohin ang pag-iipon at pag-iinvest, bigla na lang silang nawawala.

Bakit nga ba ganun? Kasi hindi lahat handang iwan ang comfort ng "enjoy now" para sa rewards ng "secure future." Hindi lahat kaya ang disiplina. Hindi lahat marunong mag-sacrifice.

Pero tandaan mo ‘to: hindi mo kailangan ng madaming kasama para umangat sa buhay. Isang matibay na mindset lang at consistent na action, sapat na. Sa pag-iipon at pag-iinvest, madalas mag-isa ka. Pero balang araw, ikaw ay aasenso habang sila, stuck pa rin sa cycle ng gastos at utang.
