The Department of Psychology is proud to express its full support for Dr. Marivic T. Sanchez for her candidacy as Board of Trustees for the Psychological Association of the Philippines. Dr. Sanchez has always inspired us, not only through the many leadership roles she has held at Rizal Technological University, but also through her genuine care for people and her passion for service.
Her vision for a more inclusive and community-rooted Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) reflects the values she has always lived by, this is by making psychology more responsive to the needs of society, ensuring that SUCs have a strong voice in national conversations, and bringing mental health support closer to communities, especially those who are often left behind.
We stand with Dr. Sanchez as she continues this journey of leadership and service. With her wisdom and dedication, we are confident that she will continue to make psychology a force for transformation in the lives of many Filipinos.

Dr. Marivic T. Sanchez is a Registered Psychologist, Guidance Counselor, and Psychometrician dedicated to mental health, education, and public service. She held key leadership roles at Rizal Technological University (RTU), including Vice President for Finance and Administration, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Director of Human Resources. She also served as Branch Executive Director and Director of Cooperative Education.
Dr. Sanchez is a Senior Accreditor of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), evaluating Psychology, Education, and Management programs across the country. She is also a sought-after speaker, conducting trainings on mental health, leadership, and teaching strategies.
Currently, she is the Director of Thrive Center for Psychology Inc., where she continues to help individuals in their mental health journey through accessible, compassionate, and evidence-based psychological services.
I envision a more inclusive, responsive and community-rooted Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP)โone that strengthens the relevance and impact of psychology across different sectors of society.
I hope to take part in enhancing the visibility and representation of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in PAP initiatives by promoting research collaborations and inclusive engagement in national psychological discourse. SUCs are critical in shaping future mental health professionals, and their active participation must be empowered.
Beyond the academic realm, I hope to foster sustainable partnerships among public agencies, SUCs, LGUs, and communitiesโreaching out those in need, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind regardless of social status or geographical location.
Equally important is the strengthening of community-based psychological and extension programs, especially for marginalized groups. Through culturally sensitive and locally grounded approaches, PAP can expand access to mental health support. This involves enhanced responsiveness in disaster and risk managementโincluding the training of Psychological First Aid (PFA) responders and the like, in collaboration with national and local agencies.
Finally, I believe that grounding our work in service, empathy, and informed action will empower psychology to continue driving national well-being and social transformation.
