IN PHOTOS | In response to the recent flooding caused by the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon and STS Crising the Philippine Red Cross Rizal Chapter Mandaluyong City Branch provided hot meals to displaced residents from July 22 to 24, 2025. The relief effort covered evacuees from Barangays Poblacion, Daang Bakal, and Old Zaniga.

Several families were temporarily relocated due to rising floodwaters that inundated several low-lying communities. The distribution of hot meals aimed to ease the burden on affected residents, many of whom were forced to evacuate with limited resources.

The hot meals were prepared and distributed by the volunteers and staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure evacuees received nourishment and care during the emergency response.

Special thanks are extended to the Mandaluyong City Branch council members and several generous donors, whose support made the operation possible. Their commitment and generosity played a vital role in reaching those most in need during this challenging time.

IN PHOTOS | The Philippine Red Cross Rizal Chapter - Mandaluyong City Branch is on heightened alert as it prepares for the possible impact of Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Crising, which is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds, compounded by the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Volunteers have been placed on standby for possible deployment in evacuation centers and high-risk areas, while the public is encouraged to stay informed and heed warnings from authorities.

Residents in flood-prone communities are advised to prepare emergency go-bags, charge communication devices, and ensure the safety of family members, especially the elderly and children.

The PRC Mandaluyong City Branch reiterated its commitment to provide humanitarian assistance and help mitigate the impact of natural disasters in the city.

Despite the tough weather conditions, our dedicated seven-manpower team composed of Arvin Quiapo, Althea Marie Espino, Ysabelle Santos, Owel Lim, Christian Josh Ibis, Francis Jeremiah Magbanua, and team leader Ronel Espino showcased resilience, strength, and teamwork as they successfully completed the challenge. They truly embodied the spirit of service and excellence in action.

Covering a grueling 10โ€“15 kilometer journey across Metro Manilaโ€”from the MMDA Riding Academy in Pasig City to the UP Science and Technology Park in Quezon Cityโ€”participants braved relentless rain while carrying full rescue gear and equipment. Every step tested their physical strength, mental focus, and commitment to humanitarian service. The challenge was heightened by the โ€œMogadishu Walkโ€, a simulation that recreated worst-case response scenarios, designed to stretch disaster responders to their absolute limits; this segment demanded not just strengthโ€”but strategy, discipline, and unity under pressure.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the solidarity of fellow Red Cross branches. Our sincere gratitude goes to the Philippine Red Cross Rizal Chapter - Pasig Pateros Branch for generously lending safety helmets that completed our teamโ€™s personal protective gear. Your support was instrumentalโ€”thank you for standing with us.

Through continued participation in activities like these, the PRC Rizal Chapter - Mandaluyong City Branch reaffirms its commitment to preparedness, collaboration, and public service. We will remain resilient, reliable, and ready in the face of any challenge.
