On 30 January 2026, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), together with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian DFAT), and local partners, will conduct a simultaneous nationwide distribution of humanitarian assistance for families affected by the Cebu Earthquake, Davao Oriental Earthquake, Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi) and Super Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong).
This simultaneous relief distribution is part of PRCโs โฑ301.8 million worth of humanitarian assistance for 23,242 affected families across 17 provinces (Cagayan, Aurora, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, QuezonโLucena, Palawan, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Surigao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Cebu, Kalinga, and Southern Leyte). Since the successive disasters last year, PRC services have provided a total of โฑ96 million worth of aid during the emergency response phase of the operation. While PRCโs relief distribution of food items and non-food items are still ongoing, a total of โฑ45 million has been allocated, alongside cash assistance worth โฑ56.5 million. Lastly, for the planned recovery phase of the operation, an estimated budget worth โฑ125 million has been alloted to help the affected families get back up on their feet.
On January 30, a total of 4,078 families across 15 provinces will receive food packs and essential household items - including hygiene kits, jerry cans, sleeping kits, kitchen sets, with a combined value of โฑ14.8 million. The activity aims to address the immediate needs of communities impacted by flooding, strong winds, and displacement brought about by successive tropical cyclones, as well as those affected by earthquakes and its consecutive aftershocks.
Participating PRC chapters for the January 30 distribution include Cagayan, Aurora, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, QuezonโLucena, Palawan, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Surigao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Cebu.
โBeyond relief, this assistance supports families as they begin to recover and rebuild. Through our partnership with the IFRC and the efforts of our local chapters, we are delivering aid that responds directly to the most urgent needs on the ground,โ said PRC Chairman & CEO Richard J. Dick Gordon .
โBy distributing assistance simultaneously, we are reaching families across regions at the same time, avoiding gaps in support and ensuring a coordinated response with our local chapters,โ said PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang .
