Gallbladder cancer is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the gallbladder, a small organ located beneath the liver that stores bile, a digestive fluid. This cancer can develop in the cells lining the gallbladder and may spread to nearby organs or lymph nodes.

Symptoms:
Often asymptomatic in early stages; symptoms may include:
Abdominal pain, especially in the upper right quadrant
Nausea and vomiting
Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
Unexplained weight loss
Bloating or indigestion

Treatment:
Surgery is the main treatment, often involving removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) and surrounding tissue. (Operable)

Chemotherapy and radiation is used in advanced stages or when surgery isn't possible.

The prognosis varies significantly based on the stage at diagnosis. Early-stage gallbladder cancer has a better outlook, while advanced stages often have a poorer prognosis due to late detection.

One of the few cases we have done at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. Our patient was diagnosed with a Malignant Liver tumor ( Hepatocellular Carcinoma) and she has to undergo Left Hepatectomy. With our current surgical equipments, the procedure was done safely and successfully.
