In its ongoing mission to translate research into commercialization, the has partnered with the CDU College of Pharmacy and the Department of Radiologic Technology for the formulation, technical validation, and refinement of research-based health product prototypes.

Through a series of prototyping activities, faculty-initiated and student-led projects with commercial potential are being developed, marking another milestone in CDUโ€™s drive towards translational research and innovation-driven growth.

The Hub proudly acknowledges Ms. Mayene Chrisnell Chavez-Ong and Mr. Kevin Christian Dela Cruz from the College of Pharmacy, alongside Mr. Roberto Tagalog, Jr. from the College of Allied Medical Sciences โ€“ Department of Radiologic Technology, for their expertise and mentorship in advancing these initiatives. CDU Program DAN-AG successfully conducted its culminating strategic planning session on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Bluewater Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

As the programโ€™s Phase 1 nears its conclusion, the session was held to ensure the effective fulfillment of its objectives, with the team focused on preparing terminal reports and finalizing all deliverables.

The strategic discussions, led by Dr. Brian Denney and Prof. Jacklyn Risia San Gabriel, also set the trajectory for Phase 2, centered on strengthening community-based health and nutrition through empowered local participation and rigorous evidence-based action.

Key proponents, research assistants, personnel, and the finance and audit team were all in attendance.

In anticipation of the successful completion of Phase 1, CDU reaffirms its commitment to its partnership with the Department of Science and Technology - Region VII, dedicated to accelerating innovation and promoting inclusive development across Central Visayas.

The and Program DAN-AG team has presented three (3) project proposals to the Department of Science and Technology Region 7 (DOST-7) in a bid for funding support.

Focusing on urgent needs across Central Visayas, the proposed studies target advancements in health diagnostics, community-based nutrition programs, and food innovation. The proposals were presented to a panel that included DOST-7 Cebu iHub Manager Sir Rino Dominic Cabungcal, RND, Maโ€™am Ethyle Iyog, and Maโ€™am Dayien Lizada.

As Program DAN-AG Phase 1 prepares to conclude this October 31, 2025, the University is committed to continue its partnership with DOST-7 to accelerate innovation and promote inclusive development throughout the region.

Mr. Christopher Rey Nacua (Research and Innovation Specialist) recently participated in UNLEASH Philippines, joining 150 Filipino changemakers in a week-long, fully funded Innovation Lab. Held from September 19 to 25, 2025, at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, the event brought together global mentors and facilitators to support local innovators in their journey towards creating sustainable solutions for their communities and beyond.

Mr. Nacua proudly represented the as a SEMI-FINALIST, aligning with one of this yearโ€™s thematic track: Health Equity and Biomedical Innovation. His recognition marks a significant achievement that highlights both his dedication to transformative research and CDUโ€™s growing leadership in advancing equitable health solutions.

The DOST Region VII - Cebu Innovation Hub, led by iHub Manager Mr. Rino Dominic Cabungcal, visited the University on September 23, 2025 for a collaborative meeting held at the CDU Boardroom.

Welcomed by the University President Dr. Philip Anthony Larrazabal, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Enrico Gruet, and Vice President for Administration Prof. Jerome Coligado, together with the Head Dr. Emmalyn Cutamora, the meeting focused on re-introducing the Cebu Innovation Hub and exploring potential joint initiatives that promote health innovation, research, and entrepreneurship in the region.

Launched in December 2024, the Cebu Innovation Hub is a flagship initiative of DOST Region VII aimed at creating a dynamic and collaborative space for startups, researchers, innovators, and industry partners to accelerate innovation and inclusive development across Central Visayas.
