What is cancer?
Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. Normal cells in the body follow a set of rules for growth and division, but cancer cells ignore these rules and continue to grow and divide, leading to the formation of tumors. Cancer cells can also spread, or metastasize, to other parts of the body through the bloodstream or lymphatic system.
There are many different types of cancer, and they can affect nearly any part of the body. Some common types of cancer include breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer.
Cancer can be caused by a variety of factors, including genetic mutations, exposure to certain substances (such as to***co smoke or certain chemicals), and certain infections. It can also be caused by certain lifestyle factors, such as diet and lack of physical activity.
Treatment for cancer often involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and/or immunotherapy. The specific treatment plan will depend on the type and stage of the cancer, as well as the individual's overall health.
