LOOK: Congratulations to the newly graduated Dental officers! On 19 August 2025, the Coast Guard Officers Course Class 31-2025 “Charlie” Bagwis Dapitan and Coast Guard Officers Course Class 32-2025 “Alpha” Sinag Manayad-Talas held its Graduation Ceremony at the Regional Training Center, Bagac, Bataan.

This significant milestone was graced by the Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard, ADM Ronnie Gil L. Gavan PCG, whose presence inspired the graduates to embody the values of Professionalism, Integrity, and Excellence as they begin their careers as commissioned officers. Also in attendance was CAPT ALDE B VENTAJAR (DS) PCG, Commanding Officer of Coast Guard Dental Station RTC-Bataan, who expressed his pride and support for the new Dental Officers as they prepare to take on greater responsibilities.

The graduation is more than just the completion of training—it symbolizes the readiness of these Dental Officers to serve not only as guardians of oral health within the Coast Guard community but also as protectors of the nation’s well-being. Their role is crucial in ensuring that every Coast Guardian remains healthy and mission-ready, exemplifying the synergy between military discipline and professional healthcare.

LOOK: The Office of the Coast Guard Surgeon proudly extends its warmest congratulations to SW1 Nicole Q Flores PCG and ASW April Joy O Natanauan PCG for their successful completion of the Course Management Training for Training Staff Class 59-2025, held on 15 August 2025 at Legazpi Hall, HCGETDC, Coast Guard Base Farola, Muelle de la Industria, Binondo, Manila.

The ceremony was graced by the presence and leadership of CDR MHAR N VENTURA PCG, Superintendent of the Coast Guard School for Special Maritime Affairs, who presided over the event.
This distinguished course reflects the Philippine Coast Guard’s unwavering commitment to training excellence—empowering its training staff with the competencies essential to effectively plan, deliver, and evaluate programs that uphold the highest standards of instructional design and ex*****on. Through this, training initiatives are systematically aligned with organizational goals and learning objectives.

Further, SW1 Flores and ASW Natanauan now carry the responsibility of enhancing the quality, coherence, and impact of the PCG’s training programs. Coast Guard Health Service Administrator Visits OTCGDS and HCGMED Service

LOOK: On 14 August 2025, the Coast Guard Health Service Administrator, RADM ALLEN J DALANGIN PCG, conducted an official visit to the Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon (OTCGDS) and the Headquarters Coast Guard Medical Service (HCGMED) at Delgado Building, 4th Floor, 637 Bonifacio Drive, South Harbor Port Area, 1018 Manila. He was warmly welcomed by the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon, COMMO RODOLFO S INGEL JR (DS) PCG and Coast Guard Chief Surgeon, CAPT AIDELINA YVONETTE J LAZARO PCG.

During the visit, RADM DALANGIN PCG toured the facilities, assessed current capabilities, and shared his vision for the continued enhancement and modernization of the Philippine Coast Guard’s health care service.

Further, RADM DALANGIN PCG also laid out key directives for both offices, which includes: Upgrade of Competencies– Training programs must be aligned with recognized standards, accredited as career courses, and focused on both specialization and functional skills development, personnel Assignment and Designation – Optimize human resources through proper placement and equitable distribution of workload, reorganization of Structure – Streamline the organization of staff, headquarters services, and operating units for greater efficiency, enhancement of Team Deployment Composition, facility Upgrade and Accreditation, streamlining of Clearance Issuance and keep lines of communication open and avoid factions.

LOOK: The Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon (OTCGDS), led by COMMO RODOLFO S INGEL JR (DS) PCG, Coast Guard Dental Surgeon, conducted an official visit to the Department of Health (DOH) today, 12 August 2025 at San Lazaro Compound, Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Barangay 353, City of Manila, NCR, First District.

The visit aimed to formally request a DOH Dental Bus to provide essential dental services to hard-to-reach communities, particularly in coastal and island areas.

The OTCGDS was warmly welcomed by Manuel V Vallesteros, DMD, Chief, Oral Health and Nutrition Care Division Disease Prevention and Control Bureau Department of Health. During the meeting, the PCG emphasized the importance of delivering oral health services to underserved populations and how the Dental Bus equipped with modern dental chairs, sterilization units, and mobile treatment facilities could greatly help address this need.

Discussions also included the inclusion of PCG Dental Facilities under the DOH Health Facilities Enhancement Initiative as well as the licensing and accreditation protocols for Dental Operating Units to ensure compliance with national health standards.

Through this collaboration, the PCG and DOH aim to strengthen community health programs, promote oral health awareness, and ensure that quality dental care reaches even the most remote barangays.

Also present during the visit were LCDR ALVIN JASON Q SADORRA (DS) PCG, LCDR KRISTEL CASANDRA L TAYLAN (DS) PCG, and LT AL KHUDRI A YUSOP (DS) PCG.

LOOK: On 06 August 2025, the Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon, led by COMMO RODOLFO S INGEL JR (DS) PCG, Coast Guard Dental Surgeon, paid a courtesy visit to RADM ARNALDO M LIM PCG, Commander, Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command, and to RADM ROBEN N DE GUZMAN PCG, Deputy Commander, CGWEISC.

The visit focused on the ongoing collaboration for the PCG Dental Digitalization Project—a pioneering initiative aimed at modernizing the delivery of dental services within the Philippine Coast Guard. This project aims to digitize the dental records of all PCG personnel and their dependents, streamlining processes for dental clearances, appointment scheduling, and patient monitoring through an integrated digital system.

During the visit, RADM ROBEN N DE GUZMAN PCG, who has been actively involved in the project since its inception, underscored the shared commitment of both parties by personally leading the presentation on its latest updates and developments, alongside CAPT JEROME T CAYABYAB PCG. This engagement further reinforced inter-command collaboration, with CGWEISC reiterating its unwavering support and readiness to provide the technical expertise necessary for the project’s successful implementation.

PCG Dental Service Explores Externship and Internship Program with PCMC
LOOK: On 05 August 2025, Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon (OTCGDS) conducted an official visit to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) to explore potential collaboration for a PCG Dental Officer Externship and Internship Program specializing in pediatric dentistry. The visit took place at PCMC’s facility located at Quezon Avenue corner Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City.

Leading the delegation was the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon, COMMO RODOLFO S INGEL JR (DS) PCG, together with LCDR ALVIN JASON Q SADORRA (DS) PCG, OIC Training Branch OTCGDS, LCDR KRISTEL CASANDRA L TAYLAN (DS) PCG and LT FRANCIS MARY G GAGARINO (DS) PCG.

The team met with Dr Kristine O Medel, Head of the Pediatric Dentistry Division of PCMC, who shared insights into the hospital’s specialized dental care for children. She also discussed possible training pathways for PCG dental officers seeking advanced expertise in pediatric dentistry.

This initiative, spearheaded by COMMO INGEL JR (DS) PCG aims to build the PCG Dental Service’s capability to deliver advanced pediatric dental care. Both PCG and PCMC expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to boost professional growth and service delivery.

LOOK: Coast Guard Dental Surgeon COMMO RODOLFO S INGEL JR (DS) PCG took part in the 80th Founding Anniversary and Scientific Seminar 2025 of the Philippine Navy Dental Service, headed by COL WARLITO G CHEE JR DS (GSC), Chief Dental Surgeon Navy. With the theme, “PNDS @ 80: Strengthening Naval Operations Through Digital Innovation and Reservist Empowerment in Support to CADC,” the event was held at the PNCPOAI Clubhouse, Naval Station Jose Francisco, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last 24 July 2025.

The seminar featured discussions on vital topics including "Key Periodontal Concepts to Incorporate in Everyday Practice" by Dr. Marie Rossini Carmela T Lachica, and "Determining the Degree of Difficulty of a Prosthodontic Case" by Dr. Arturo P De Leon.

Also representing the Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon were LCDR KRISTEL CASANDRA L TAYLAN (DS) PCG and LT KAIZY JETH Y ROSARIO (DS) PCG, highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and the importance of inter-service collaboration among the country's uniformed dental professionals.
