In celebration of National Women’s Month, the Coast Guard Dental Service continues to recognize the inspiring stories of women in uniform who balance multiple roles while remaining steadfast in their service to the nation.

For many women in the service, strength is defined not only by professional responsibilities but also by the roles they fulfill in their families and communities. This reflection is shared by LT KRISTEL ANNE C BALEROS (DS) PCG, Assistant Officer-in-Charge, Training Branch, Office of the Coast Guard Dental Surgeon.
Expressing her perspective on the many roles women carry, LT BALEROS shares:

“This Women’s Month, I am reminded that being a woman comes with many roles and responsibilities. As a Dental Officer, an Army wife, a sister, and a mother of two sons, the journey is not always easy. Each role carries its own challenges, but through the wisdom and guidance of our Lord, I continue to carry them with strength, grace, and purpose. Women empowerment, for me, is not just about achieving goals, it is about maintaining composure in the midst of responsibilities, standing firm in faith, and trusting that everything will fall into place as long as we are guided by God and remain steadfast in our purpose. To all the women who continue to serve, nurture, and lead in their own ways, you are strong, capable, and inspiring. Happy Women’s Month!”

Her words reflect the strength, faith, and commitment of women in the Philippine Coast Guard as they continue to serve both family and country. The Coast Guard Dental Service proudly joins the nation in celebrating National Women’s Month with this year’s campaign banner:

“𝙒𝙀 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙀𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮.”

One of these remarkable women is LT FRANCIS MARY G GAGARINO (DS) PCG, Officer-in-Charge, Comptrollership Branch, Office of The Coast Guard Dental Surgeon (OTCGDS). Her message reflects the courage and determination of women who serve with pride and purpose.

Reflecting on the role of women in service, LT GAGARINO shares:

“We are not ‘BABAE LANG’.
We represent strength, courage, and a strong commitment to duty as empowered women in the service. The role we carry is demanding; we are expected to be accountable, responsible, and steadfast in everything we do. Women are leaders of integrity, purpose-driven champions, and agents of change. Every challenge we face becomes an opportunity to demonstrate our perseverance, and every task we accomplish proves that women in the service are capable, competent, and brave. As we continue this journey to serve and lead, we affirm one truth: The power of a nation is reflected in the bravery of its women."

Her words serve as a powerful reminder that women in the Philippine Coast Guard are not only contributors to service, but they are also pillars of strength, leadership, and inspiration.

In celebration of National Women’s Month, we proudly recognize the invaluable contributions of our female Dental Officers in the Coast Guard Dental Service. These exceptional women exemplify dedication, competence, and steadfast commitment in safeguarding the oral health and overall well-being of Philippine Coast Guard personnel.

Among them is LCDR CZARINA L FERNANDEZ (DS) PCG, Officer-in-Charge, Supply and Logistics Branch; Officer-in-Charge, Gender and Development (GAD); Acting Chief of Staff, CG Dental Dispensary, NHQ. She stands as a shining example of leadership, professionalism, and excellence in service.
Reflecting on her journey, LCDR FERNANDEZ (DS) PCG shares:

“As a woman in the service, every day presents a new challenge. You never truly know what lies ahead, designations change, responsibilities increase, colleagues vary, and the system remains dynamic. Difficulties are always present, but women are built with resilience and continue to strive, perform, and move forward.
Balancing time and effort as a woman in uniform and as a mother at home makes the role even more demanding, unique, and complex. Patience is often tested. Yet, difficulty does not necessarily mean it is impossible, perhaps we are being sharpened through these experiences to become more flexible, dedicated, committed, and compassionate as women, wives, uniformed officers, and mothers.
To myself and to every woman out there, whether in service or in any role, give yourself a pat on the back. We have all done well.”

Her words serve as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and grace that women bring to both service and family life.

The Coast Guard Dental Service proudly joins the entire nation in the celebration of National Women’s Month with this year’s recurring campaign banner:

“We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society”
