WHAT IS GLAUCOMA?

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that results in progressive damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve is the structure that relays what the eyes see to the brain. The major risk factor for glaucoma is increased pressure inside the eye or intraocular pressure.

Glaucoma causes irreversible blindness. Vision loss starts at the edges of the visual field and occurs gradually until a large area of vision is lost.

There is no cure to glaucoma. Damage to the optic nerve cause by glaucoma is permanent. However, glaucoma can be controlled especially when discovered early, and further visual damage can be prevented.

Ipinapaalam ng Tondo Medical Center na pansamantalang hindi tatanggap ng mga face-to-face at online consultation ang aming ospital effective today, January 3, 2022 (Lunes). Ito ay sa kabila ng pagtaas ng bilang ng kaso ng COVID-19 sa mga health care workers ng ospital at sa mga pasyente.

Ang Emergency Room naman ay 24/7 na tatanggap ng mga pasyenteng nangangailangan ng agarang atensyon o emergency cases.
