CORDILLERAN MADE HISTORY AS WORLD'S YOUNGEST PRACTICING LAWYER
Jozef Maynard Borja Erece, a Cordilleran genius from Baguio City with an IQ reportedly above 160, made history at just 18 years old when he became the world’s youngest practicing lawyer. Today, he manages high-level legal disputes both locally and internationally, a testament to his remarkable intellect and discipline.
In less than a year, Erece accomplished a rare feat, passing three of the world’s most prestigious bar examinations: the Bar of England and Wales, the New York Bar, and the Queensland Bar. His academic credentials are equally impressive, spanning a Master of Corporate Law from the University of Cambridge, a Bachelor of Laws, a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies, and a Master of Laws from the Australian National University, along with specialized programs at Harvard University.
Yet, Erece’s brilliance extends far beyond the courtroom. He is a 3rd-degree black belt in Taekwondo, a top-level basketball player who received scholarship offers from both U.S. and Philippine universities, a chess master, and an accomplished violinist who has performed with orchestras in New Zealand. At just 8 years old, he also became a published author with his first fantasy novel.
His extraordinary achievements did not go unnoticed at home. The House of Representatives of the Philippines passed House Resolution No. 2072, commending Erece’s accomplishments and recognizing him as possibly “the most prodigious modern-day Filipino child prodigy.”
From Baguio’s mountain city to the world stage, Jozef Maynard Borja Erece continues to prove that talent, discipline, and purpose can turn prodigious beginnings into lasting impact.
