Ipinapaalala ng Department of Health Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH CLCHD) ang pag-iingat mula sa mga Influenza-like-illnesses (ILI) o mga mala-trangkasong sakit na nakahahawa at nagdudulot ng lagnat, pananakit ng ulo at katawan, masakit na lalamunan, panghihina, at sipon.

Bagamat kasalukuyang mas mababa ng 33% ang mga naitatalang kaso ng ILI sa Central Luzon ngayong taon kumpara noong 2024, mahalaga pa ring malaman ang tungkol sa mga mala-trangkasong sakit.

Ang ILI ay mga nakahahawang sakit na sanhi ng iba’t ibang virus o bacteria na nagdudulot ng infection sa ilong, lalamunan, at/o baga. Ano man ang edad ay maaaring tamaan nito, ngunit mas mataas ang tyansa ng mga komplikasyon sa mga bata, matatanda, buntis, at mga may karamdaman.

Ang mga mala-trangkasong sakit na ito ay naipapasa sa pamamagitan ng droplets na galing sa ubo o bahing ng taong may sakit, at paghawak sa bibig, ilong, at mata matapos humawak sa mga kontaminadong gamit.

Hinihikayat ng DOH CLCHD ang publiko na gawin ang mga hakbang para makaiwas sa ILI:
-Umiwas sa mga masisikip at matataong lugar;
-Takpan ang bibig at ilong kapag uubo o babahing;
-Magsuot ng face mask, lalo na kung lalabas;
-Maghugas ng kamay gamit ang sabon at malinis na tubig;
-Siguraduhin ang sapat na pahinga; at
-Uminom ng sapat na tubig at kumain ng masustansyang pagkain

Samantala, pinapayuhan naman ang mga may sintomas ng ILI na pansamantalang manatili sa bahay at umiwas sa pakikipagsalamuha, lalo na sa mga β€œhigh risk” na populasyon. Uminom din ng gamot tulad ng paracetamol kung nilalagnat.

Patuloy ang mga isinasagawang hakbang ng DOH CLCHD para mapigilan ang pagkalat ng mga ILI. Tinitiyak rin ng ahensya na walang dapat ipangamba ang publiko kaugnay nito, lalo pa at likas lang na tumataas ang kaso ng mga mala-trangkasong sakit sa panahon ng taglamig, partikular na ngayong β€œber” months.

Ang mga mala-trangkasong sakit ay naiiwasan. Magpakonsulta at makipag-ugnayan sa pinakamalapit na healthcare provider para mapanatiling ligtas ang pamilya at sarili.

Kung may ubo, sipon, at pananakit ng katawan, magpahinga at uminom ng paracetamol at maraming tubig, sapagkat nawawala naman eto after a few days.

NEVER take antibiotics para sa simpleng ubo at sipon. Taking antibiotics for flu is considered antibiotic overuse at hindi ito maganda. Hindi dapat ginagamot ng antibiotics ang simpleng flu.

Most common in children < 5 years, especially Asian descent (Japanese children).

πŸ”Ή Pathophysiology
βœ”οΈ Immune-mediated vasculitis affecting medium-sized vessels.
βœ”οΈ Inflammation of coronary arteries β†’ Aneurysm formation & thrombosis risk.

πŸ”Ή Clinical Features (CRASH and Burn)
C - Conjunctivitis (Bilateral, non-purulent)

R - Rash (Polymorphous, often desquamating)

A - Adenopathy (Cervical lymphadenopathy, usually unilateral)

S - Strawberry tongue (Oral mucositis, red lips, pharyngeal erythema)

H - Hands and feet changes (Edema, erythema, desquamation)

Burn - Fever (> 5 days, unresponsive to antipyretics)

πŸ”Ή Diagnosis
βœ”οΈ Clinical diagnosis: Fever for β‰₯5 days + β‰₯4 of the CRASH symptoms.
βœ”οΈ Lab Findings:

↑ ESR/CRP, leukocytosis, thrombocytosis (late stage).

Sterile pyuria (increased WBCs in urine).

βœ”οΈ Echocardiography (to assess coronary artery involvement).

πŸ”Ή Treatment
βœ”οΈ IVIG (Intravenous immunoglobulin) (first-line; within 10 days of illness).
βœ”οΈ Aspirin (high-dose for acute inflammation, then low-dose for antiplatelet effect).
βœ”οΈ Corticosteroids (refractory cases).

πŸ”Ή Complications
βœ”οΈ Coronary artery aneurysms (risk highest during subacute phase).
βœ”οΈ Myocardial infarction (due to thrombosis or stenosis).
βœ”οΈ Heart failure.

With increased rainfall and flooding, breeding grounds for pests also increase. During this rainy season, there is a higher risk of transmission of diseases spread by these pests, like dengue from infected mosquitoes and leptospirosis from infected rodents. Hence, the Food and Drug Administration issues this Advisory to provide reminders to the public on pest prevention and the safe use of pesticides.

🚨 The Hidden Dangers of Common Pain Relievers During Pregnancy.

When you are pregnant, you are not just taking medicine for yourself, you are also giving it to your baby through your bloodstream. That means anything that changes how your body works can also change how your baby develop

✍️Why some pain relievers are risky:

Many common painkillers β€” like Ibuprofen (Brufen), Diclofenac, and regular-dose Aspirin belong to a group called NSAIDs.

NSAIDs work by blocking prostaglandins β€” chemicals your body uses to cause pain and inflammation.

But prostaglandins also do other important jobs during pregnancy β€” like keeping blood flowing to your baby’s kidneys.

✍️ Chain reaction when NSAIDs are taken in the second half of pregnancy:

1. Less prostaglandin β†’

2. Less blood flow to the baby’s kidneys β†’

3. Baby makes less urine β†’

4. Amniotic fluid drops (since it’s mostly made from baby’s urine) β†’

5. Oligohydramnios (low amniotic fluid), which can cause:

πŸ’§Poor lung development

πŸ’§Limb and joint stiffness (contractures)

6. In some cases, NSAIDs may also close a vital heart vessel in the baby before birth, causing serious heart and lung problems.

✍️How fast can it happen?

Amniotic fluid can drop in as little as 48 hours after starting NSAIDs.

Sometimes the effect is reversible if the medicine is stopped early β€” but not always.

Are NSAIDs ever allowed?

Yes β€” in rare cases, your doctor may still use them if the benefit outweighs the risk.

Low-dose Aspirin (75mg) is sometimes prescribed to prevent preeclampsia β€” but this is different and should only be done under medical supervision.

Bottom line:
❌ Don’t self-medicate during pregnancy β€” even with β€œcommon” painkillers.
βœ… Always talk to your pharmacist or obstetrician first.
