The only way to impress me isby being a good person. I don't care what you have, what you wear, where you live or what you drive. I just have deep respect for people with pure hearts and good intentions.

Let's talk about wound drains! 🩹 Understanding the different types of drains is key in promoting proper wound healing and preventing complications.
This post highlights two common closed drain systems:
Hemovac Drain: This system uses a vacuum to pull fluid into a collection bottle, typically with a capacity of around 500 mL. It's often used for larger amounts of drainage.
Jackson-Pratt (JP) Drain: A more compact, bulb-shaped device that also uses suction to collect fluid, usually holding between 100-200 mL. It's easily identifiable by its compressible bulb.
Both Hemovac and Jackson-Pratt drains work by creating a vacuum to remove excess fluid from a surgical site or wound. Why is this so important? Because if drainage is left, it can lead to tissue swelling and disrupt the natural healing process.
Proper management of wound drains, including emptying, measuring output, and maintaining suction, is a critical nursing skill!
