Some people are more prone to retinal detachment. Risk factors include:
☑️ Age over 50
☑️ Family history of retinal detachment
☑️ High myopia (severe nearsightedness)
☑️ History of eye injury or surgery (like cataracts)
☑️ Certain eye diseases
If you have one or more of these, regular eye exams are crucial to catch early changes. Prevention starts with awareness.
A PUBLIC ADVISORY FROM THE PHILIPPINE ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY: Beware of unproven eye medicine, eye drops, and eye devices that are being peddled as a cure-all or prevention of different eye conditions. Consult your ophthalmologist for the proper care of your eyes.
