WHO can benefit from light boxes:
Those who are visually responsive to light or glowing objects but do not attend to standard materials
Those who benefit from enhanced contrast or illumination for visual engagement
Those who are developing skills such as visual tracking, scanning, discrimination, eye-hand coordination, and visual memory

Guidelines for use:
1. Use in a dimly lit area, but turn room light on if there is light sensitivity.
2. Avid flickering for those with seizures.
3. Try using it in different angles and distances
4. Explore with different colored overlays and materials
5. Use descriptive words like “look,” “see,” “find,” and describe the object’s shape, size, position, and color to help build visual language.

For materials you can use with the lightbox, go to TSVI's website.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

When persons have difficulty reading Braille due to impaired tactile discrimination, we use ping-pong balls in a 6-hole egg carton, moving gradually to smaller items.

Maski ba may low vision, kayang matuto para tumulong sa gawaing bahay? Yes na yes na yes! Showing off our client who learned to fold clothes beautifully after only two OT sessions. Siya na nga ang in charge sa pagtupi ng mga kumot nila everyday.

Persons with visual impairments can learn many skills, basta alam nila ang techniques. Message us and we will connect you with a trained OT!

Sharing my recent finds in Shopee for teaching pre-Braille skills such as tactile discrimination, isolated finger use, and bilateral hand use. This will help our blind kids learn Braille more easily from their teachers in the classroom.

We are introducing a new series about making books accessible for children with visual impairments. We will share different types of accessible books, so that therapists and parents can make them at home.

Special thanks to Teachers Nathalie Pigar and Joyce Villafania of Perkins for teaching us!
