In celebration of World Physiatry Day last July 17, the University of Santo Tomas Hospital - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department held a lay forum on Cumulative Trauma Disorders at the USTH Outpatient Department area.

The event was attended by patients, medical students, interns, and hospital staff, all eager to learn more about musculoskeletal health, ergonomics, and preventive care.

Dr. Bea Sorilla Nebit, a first-year resident, delivered an engaging and informative lecture on common conditions, causes, risk factors, and the role of ergonomics, early recognition of repetitive strain injuries, and proactive health strategies can significantly reduce the burden of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The session was moderated by Dr. Dustin Solis and encouraged active participation and discussion.

This initiative, supported by Inova Pharmaceuticals and TobiePharma, reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to holistic, preventive, and function-oriented care in both work and home environments.

Last April 17 was World Hemophilia Day, and together, we stand in solidarity with the hemophilia community, advocating for awareness, inclusion, and accessible care.

PTs, OTs, and Physiatrists play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for people with hemophilia:
- Physiatrists coordinate holistic rehab plans to prevent complications and promote independence.
- Physical Therapists (PTs) help manage joint health, reduce pain, and enhance mobility.
- Occupational Therapists (OTs) support daily living through adaptive strategies and joint protection techniques.
