In celebration of the 80th Anniversary of University of Santo Tomas Hospital, the UST Hospital Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, in collaboration with UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and ANARGYROI: Faculty of Medicine and Surgery Foundation, Inc., successfully conducted a rehabilitation medical mission on February 22, 2026 at the Ambulatory Care Services–OPD Area.

A total of 62 patients received comprehensive rehabilitation care for common musculoskeletal conditions. Services provided were rehabilitation consultations, individualized exercise programs, patient education, medications, musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics, ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, and complimentary knee and lumbosacral spine radiographs to support accurate diagnosis and continuity of care. Patients were likewise advised appropriate physical therapy and follow-up consultations.

The activity was organized by Dr. Bee-Giok Tan-Sales, MD. By integrating consultation, diagnostics, interventional procedures, and rehabilitation planning into a single setting, the mission promoted early intervention, functional restoration, and an improved quality of life.

The medical mission was made possible through the generous support of Anarygyroi Foundation, UST Hospital, and our medical partners—Taisho, Getz Pharma, Tobie Pharma, Endure Medical, Inc. and Sonoscape Medical Corp. The UST Hospital’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation continues to advance its mission of delivering compassionate, patient-centered, and evidence-based rehabilitation care through sustained community outreach and service-driven initiatives.

In preparation for the upcoming UAAP Games, on February 9, 2026, the UST Hospital Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopaedics collaborated with the Institute of Physical Education and Athletics to hold a discourse on clinical care for student-athletes. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to a safer and more responsive athletic environment through strong coordination between medical teams and coaches.

The orientation offered essential guidance on athlete care, safety, and referral systems, equipping coaches to better support the health, well-being, and performance of athletes while fostering closer collaboration in managing sports-related concerns.

Through this multidisciplinary effort, USTH continues to strengthen systems for athlete welfare, empowering students to reach their full potential and represent the university with pride.
