The Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) Cancer Institute, in partnership with the Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, recently kicked off its two-day Cancer Congress, bringing together healthcare professionals for an in-depth learning experience on lung cancer care.

This year’s Cancer Congress carried the theme “Harnessing Opportunities, Promoting Excellence in Lung Cancer Care.” The sessions covered a wide range of topics including detection, risk assessment, diagnostic imaging, molecular laboratory tests, and case discussions on approaches for both early-stage and advanced lung cancers. Participants also attended lectures on advanced therapies, evolving surgical techniques, and innovative interventional procedures.

The two-day Cancer Congress wrapped up with meaningful discussions, new insights, and a shared commitment to advancing lung cancer care.

Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) proudly continue to expand its international partnerships through the Taiwan–Philippine South Bound Project, a collaborative initiative with the Taipei Municipal Wanfang Hospital in Taipei, Taiwan.

As part of this meaningful collaboration, Dr. Kathleen Tan, Pathology resident of the CGHMC Institute of Pathology, is currently completing her one-month cytopathology rotation at Wanfang Hospital. This program aims to promote cross-border learning, enhance diagnostic expertise, and strengthen academic ties between institutions in Taiwan and the Philippines.

Through this exchange, Dr. Tan gains valuable hands-on experience in advanced cytopathologic techniques and digital pathology exposure to international best practices—further enriching CGHMC’s training and service standards in pathology and laboratory medicine.

Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) is one of the oldest and most-trusted hospitals in the Philippines. It was founded during the Spanish occupation in the country from charitable donations of Chinese immigrants. Backed by the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association Inc. (PCCAI), the hospital continues to grow and improve its services, commitment to the welfare of its patients.
