Magsaysay People Resources Corporation (MPRC) President Marlon R. Roño, concurrent President of the Philippine-Japan Manning Consultative Council, Inc. (PJMCC), has been elected Chairman of the Joint Manning Group (JMG) for the 2026–2027 term. The JMG Officers and Board of Trustees were elected on January 23, 2026, at the Manila Yacht Club.

In his leadership role at MAGSAYSAY, MRR has consistently advanced strong industry–government collaboration, actively engaging with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), JMG, Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME), and PJMCC to promote policies and programs that strengthen crew welfare, regulatory compliance, and sustainable workforce development. His election to chair JMG further reinforces this shared commitment to cohesive industry representation and responsible leadership.

Through MRR’s leadership and continued industry collaboration, the sector remains focused on upholding strong governance, protecting crew welfare, and sustaining the global competitiveness of Filipino seafarers.

Delegates from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), together with officials of the Maritime Industry Authority(MARINA), visited the Magsaysay Training Center (MTC) in Tanza, Cavite, on February 18, 2026, for a technical tour linked to the Regional Conference on the Implementation of the STCW Convention.

The activity provided delegates with a closer look at MTC’s training environment, including its facilities and program offerings designed to build practical competence and technical expertise. Through the walkthrough, the delegation observed how training is delivered to ensure alignment with international standards and industry requirements.

During the visit, Magsaysay leaders highlighted the group’s comprehensive approach to workforce development — from training and education to global deployment. MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) welcomed International Maritime Organization (IMO) Secretary-General, Arsenio Dominguez on February 18, 2026, together with Philippine Ambassador to the UK Teodoro Locsin Jr., MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan, and MARINA STCW Executive Director Samuel Batalla. The visit showcased MMMA’s strong presence in global maritime education and strengthened connections between the Philippines and the international maritime community.

The program began with a warm welcome at the administration building, followed by tree planting, a guided campus tour, and a short program attended by delegates from MMMA, MOL, MARINA, and Magsaysay. The highlight of the visit was an open dialogue with cadets, during which Secretary-General, IMO Arsenio Dominguez encouraged them to ask bold and meaningful questions about their chosen profession. Discussions focused on net-zero emission targets, women in maritime, AI in shipping, maritime safety, and stricter implementation of regulations.

In recognition of the visit, MMMA presented IMO Secretary-General, Arsenio Dominguez with a cadet-crafted artwork symbolizing the pride and spirit of Filipino seafarers. The engagement underscored MMMA’s growing influence in global maritime education and its continuing commitment to shaping the next generation of industry leaders.

MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2026 on February 3, marking a milestone in the Philippines’ role as a global source of maritime talent. The batch includes 84 Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and 100 Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSME) cadets, who will begin their careers as Third Officers and Third Engineers aboard MOL’s advanced “blue ships” and MAGSAYSAY-operated eco-friendly “green ships.”

The graduating class features Latin honorees and a graduate from an indigenous community, reflecting MMMA’s commitment to inclusive opportunities.

Keynote speaker Hon. Undersecretary Bernard P. Olalia of the Department of Migrant Workers highlighted the global recognition Filipino seafarers continue to earn for their professionalism and reliability. Magsaysay Global Services, Inc. - MGSI reaffirmed its commitment to ethical recruitment and the welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) by participating in the three-day Capability Enhancement Training for Welfare Coordinators and Employers’ Forum, held from January 21 to 23, 2026, in Budapest, Hungary.

MGSI General Manager - Global Alvin Gonzales attended and hosted the event, facilitating discussions among employers, government officials, and partner organizations. The program, organized by PASEI and ACE in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Hungary and the Department of Migrant Workers, focused on capacity-building for welfare coordinators and promoting responsible employer practices.

The forum’s sessions strengthened understanding of labor migration governance, worker welfare, and compliance, while also addressing employer responsibilities, worker retention, and risk prevention. MGSI continues to work closely with government and industry partners to ensure safe, fair, and transparent overseas employment for Filipino workers.
