The celebration underscored the strong connection between environmental integrity and public health, highlighting the importance of cleaner air, safer water, sustainable waste management, and pollution reduction in building healthier and more resilient communities.
๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐จ๐๐จ๐ซ๐จ โ๐๐๐โ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ emphasized in his message the importance of multisectoral collaboration among government, the private sector, academe, and civil society in addressing environmental challenges such as pollution and climate change. Meanwhile, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง ๐. ๐
๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ง๐๐๐ณ reminded everyone that maintaining a clean environment, starting at home and within our communities, is essential to preventing diseases and promoting overall wellness.
Representing the ๐๐๐ง๐ข๐ฅ๐ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ, ๐๐ซ. ๐๐๐ ๐๐ซ ๐. ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ ๐๐, ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐๐๐๐ข๐๐๐ซ, highlighted in his speech that โenvironmental health is public health.โ He emphasized that the cleanliness of our surroundings, the air we breathe, and the water we drink have a direct impact on our well-being. Dr. Santos also underscored the importance of continued collaboration among government agencies and community members in building clean, safe, and sustainable communities.
The event also featured interactive booths and exhibits on water quality, food safety, sanitation, waste management, and hygiene, making environmental education engaging and practical for the participants. Students from the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) were also recognized for their artworks showcasing the connection between a healthy environment and a healthy life.
Through this initiative, the DOH MMCHD and Manila Health Department reaffirm their shared commitment to building cleaner, safer, and healthier environments for every Manileรฑo.
