Frequently Asked Questions:
Does Himalayan Salt Lamp melt or expire?
As long as you do not submerge your Himalayan Salt Lamps in water, or expose them to excessive moisture, they will last FOREVER.
If the humidity (halumigmig) is high, the salt lamp may sweat a little.
However, if the salt lamp is left on, the heat of the light bulb will prevent sweating even during most humid days.
To prevent sweating lamp when it is turned off, place a plastic bag over it and tuck under the base of the lamp to stop the moisture absorption.
When not in use for a long period of time, disconnect your power cable, remove it from the lamp, and store the salt lamp in a plastic bag.
If the lamp gets wet just wipe it with a cloth. You can expose the lamp in direct sunlight 2-3 hrs and gently brush excess crystals.
Hence, If you havenβt noticed your lamp sweat, itβs probably fake
Himalayan salt lamps are hygroscopic, meaning they attract water molecules to themselves. The benefit of a Himalayan salt lamp comes when this process is combined with the heat of the lamp, which then dries out the lamp and releases the molecules back into the air.
This is awesome because the various pollutants within the water molecules are then left on the lamp, meaning your Himalayan salt lamp is constantly purifying the air of things like bacteria and mold.
How do you know if this process is taking place? During certain stages, your Himalayan salt lamp should βsweatβ. This means the surface of the salt lamp should be wet from the hygroscopic process.
