OTHER EARLY SIGNS OF LABOR THAT ARE NOT WATER BREAKING OR CONTRACTIONS

Many mamas believe labor only starts when the water breaks or when painful contractions begin. The truth is, your body often gives other early signals that birth is near. These may include:
• A pink or brown mucus discharge, often called the bloody show.
• A constant lower backache that does not ease with rest.
• A heavy pressure low in the pelvis as baby moves further down.
• Loose stools or a sudden change in bowel habits.
• A burst of energy or “nesting” feeling to prepare your home.

Not every woman will experience all of these signs, and they can happen in different orders. The most important thing is to stay alert, listen to your body, and keep your healthcare provider informed.

However, if you notice any of the following, go to the hospital immediately:
• Heavy VG bleeding
• Clear fluid leaking before contractions start
• Severe abdominal pain
• Baby’s movements suddenly reducing or stopping
• Persistent severe headache or blurred vision

These are warning signs that need urgent attention.
