Education:
1. MA or MS degree plus 12 units of advanced graduate work completer; or
2. MA or MS degree; or
3. AB or BS degree plus 18 units of graduate work completed.

Experience:
1. None required; or
2. Three (3) years of experience in formulating research designs, and or conducting research or as University Researcher I or II; or
3. Five (5) years of experience formulating research designs and/or conducting research, or as University Researcher I or 10 years of experience as University Research Associate I or II.

Training: Eight (8) hours of relevant training

It will be on March 19, 2026 (Thursday) from 2:00 P.M. - 3:30 P.M. at the NIH Conference Room (also available online via Zoom).

The speaker, Dr. Janssen Kotah, is a DOST Balik Scientist Awardee hosted by the National Institutes of Health, UP Manila. Dr. Kotah is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Molecular Neurobiology Group University Medical Center Groningen, Netherlands. He will be sharing his experiences as a DOST Balik Scientist and talk about opportunities in Neuroscience in the Philippines.

In celebration of World Hearing Day, the Philippine National Ear Institute (PNEI), in collaboration with the UP College of Allied Medical Professions and the Philippine General Hospital Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, conducted a School Hearing Screening on March 4, 2026, at P. Gomez Elementary School, Sta. Cruz, Manila, in partnership with the Schools Division Office – Manila.

The activity successfully screened 45 PGES learners, supporting early identification of hearing concerns and reinforcing the importance of accessible hearing care for every child. The initiative was also supported by PNEI elective interns from San Beda University, who assisted in the conduct of the screening.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners and supporters, including Rotary Club of Quirino Manila Central and Manila Hearing Aid, for helping make this initiative possible.

This activity supports the World Hearing Day 2026 theme: “From Communities to Classrooms: Hearing Care for Every Child.” Together, we continue working toward a future where no child is left behind due to hearing loss. 👂

Measles, one of the world's most contagious diseases, can cause severe pneumonia, diarrhea, brain infections, or long-term issues in young or undernourished children, while rubella risks miscarriage or birth defects in pregnant women (congenital rubella syndrome).

In the Philippines, outbreaks still occur when children miss their vaccines, endangering babies and toddlers with hospitalization or death. However, the proven measles-rubella vaccine protects millions worldwide, with only mild, temporary side effects like fever or rash (serious side effects are rare) and no link to autism as per studies. High vaccination rates create community immunity, protecting the vulnerable. By keeping measles–rubella vaccination coverage high, we can prevent outbreaks, reduce hospitalizations, and give Filipino children the healthy start they deserve.

Today, we observe International HPV Awareness Day to highlight a crucial truth: HPV is a virus that affects nearly everyone at some point, yet we have the power to stop the cancers it causes.

With over 100 strains of the virus, Human Papillomavirus is linked to approximately 90% of cervical cancers, as well as several other reproductive and throat cancers.

The good news is that through a combination of timely vaccination, regular screening, and open conversation, these diseases are highly preventable.

Let us break the stigma and prioritize our health! By doing so, we can protect ourselves and the next generation from an entirely avoidable disease.
