Ang surveillance ay ang regular na follow-up sa mga pasyenteng gumaling na mula sa cancer, upang maagang matukoy kung may pagbabalik ng sakit, pagkalat (metastasis), o panibagong kanser

ano po included sa surveillance? for this case colon cancer po ang case nya:
🎯 check up with labs every 3 months first 3-5 yrs
🎯 ct scan (chest and abdomen) every 6 months
🎯 colonoscopy 1 year after the surgery

bakit importante ang surveillance?
‼️Karaniwang bumabalik ang colon cancer sa loob ng unang 2–3 taon matapos ang paggaling.

‼️Kung maagang makita ang pagbabalik ng cancer, maaari pa itong magamot muli.

‼️ May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers, especially among older adults? (usually men are affected and age more than 55 years old)

Be Aware of the SIGNS:

🩸Blood in urine (even once)
🩸Frequent urination or urgency
🩸Pain during urination
🩸Lower back or pelvic pain

PREVENTION Tips:

- Quit smoking – it’s the #1 risk factor
-Stay hydrated – flush out toxins
- Eat healthy – more fruits & veggies
- Avoid harmful chemicals – use protection if exposed at work
- Get regular checkups – early detection saves lives

🤔 Alam mo ba?
Ang Testicular Cancer ay isang uri ng kanser na umaapekto sa mga itlog ng lalake (testicles).

mas madalas itong tumama sa mga kalalakihang nasa edad 15 hanggang 35.

⚠️Mga Sintomas na Dapat Bantayan:⚠️
* Bukol o pamamaga sa isa o parehong itlog
* Pananakit sa parte ng puson o bayag
* Biglaang pagbabago sa laki o pakiramdam ng itlog
* Mabigat na pakiramdam sa bayag

📝 Mahalagang Paalala:
Hindi lahat ng bukol ay kanser, pero mas mabuting maagapan kaysa manghula. Mga Lalaki, huwag mahiya magpatingin sa doktor

Ang pag-aalaga sa sarili ay hindi kahinaan — ito ay katapangan 💪

‼️ Head and Neck Cancer ‼️

This group of cancers can affect the mouth, throat, nose, sinuses, and voice box. It’s more common than you think— often linked to smoking, alcohol, and HPV infection.

Common signs include:
⭕️A sore throat that doesn’t heal
⭕️A lump in the neck or mouth
⭕️Voice changes or hoarseness
⭕️Trouble swallowing

The good news? When found early, head and neck cancers are highly treatable. Regular check-ups, avoiding to***co, moderating alcohol, and getting the HPV vaccine can significantly reduce your risk.

Decided to have my screening colonoscopy since we have a strong family history of cancer. 😬

Other recommended screening tests for cancer:

1. HPV test and PAP smear - for cervical cancer
2. breast ultrasound & mammogram - breast cancer
3. low dose chest CT scan (for smokers) - lung cancer

‼️Prevention is better than cure ☺️

First time na ako ang magpa-pic sa pasyente. Kahit holiday ang request sa scheduled procedure hindi ako makatanggi. Tapos ako pa ang magbabayad. Ganyan pag VIP ang patient 😅 Dr. Charmaine Liao Tan - Medical Oncologist

Ang COLON Cancer ay bukol ng malaking bituka.
Ito ang pang 3️⃣ sa pinaka common na cancer sa 🇵🇭

Pano ito nagsisimula? 🤔
🔹️ Nagmumula sa mga polyp, o maliit na laman na tumutubol sa malaking bituka at pag napabayan, ito ay maaaring maging kanser.

Mga Risk Factors
🔹️ Edad (4️⃣5️⃣&🆙️)
🔹️ Family history ng cancer sa bituka
🔹 ️Diet (processed food, karne/red meat)🍖🥩
🔹️ SMOKING 🚭
🔹️ Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Symptoms
🔹️ Pagbabago sa pagdumi
🔹️ Dugo sa dumi
🔹 ️Pananakit ng tiyan
🔹️ Hindi maipaliwanag na pagpayat

Ano ang mga pwede gawin o tests para maiwasan?
🔹️ Stool tests (FOBT/FIT) - ineexamine if may dugo sa dumo
🔹 ️Colonoscopy - mahabang instrumento na may camera na pinapasok sa bituka. Mula sa edad na 4️⃣5️⃣
❗️Mas maaga kung mataas ang panganib (kasaysayan ng pamilya, atbp.).
🔹️ CT Colonography - isang klase ng CT scan na nakakadetect ng polyps
