A comprehensive training workshop on Human Milk Banking and storage was conducted on July 29-31, 2025 in Bayview Hotel organized by the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital-Human Milk Bank Unit (DJFMH-HMBU) through the support from the Department of Health. The event was attended by the doctors, nurses, midwifes, nursing attendants, and medical technologist from D.O Plaza Memorial Hospital, Agusan Del Sur Caraga, Department of health-Center for Health Development Caraga, Quezon Medical Center, Zamboanga Regional Medical Center, Davao Regional Medical Center, Southern Isabela Medical Center, Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, and Ospital ng Malabon.
Participants acquired essential knowledge and skills in the safe collection, pasteurization, storage, and distribution of Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (PDHM). This training is vital in the strengthening newborn care by equipping participants with the tools for set up and manage Human Milk Bank Units (HMBU) ensuring the availability of safe and high-quality PDHM for vulnerable infants in need.
This training was in collaboration with Human Milk Bank Association of the Philippines, INC.
