Attended the MSD Keytruda Conference on cervical cancer and immunotherapy last weekend — grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and growing for my patients. 🩵

💙 Cervical cancer? ‘Di mo deCERV!
Because prevention, early detection, and right treatment matter.

That’s why it breaks my heart when I meet patients who were told they were receiving “immunotherapy” — when in truth, it was marketed as such but was an entirely different drug. 😞

Just recently, I met a cervical cancer patient who had been receiving weekly “immunotherapy” for almost a year.
But it wasn’t Pembrolizumab/Keytruda, nor any recognized immunotherapy.
She never had proper workup, no chemo, no radiation. For more than a year, she was led to believe she was on the right treatment. Instead of healing, she was left with more advanced disease and an empty wallet.

True immunotherapy for cervical cancer (like pembrolizumab/Keytruda) is used only in specific cases — and always under specialist care.

If you or a loved one is facing cervical cancer, please consult a gynecologic oncologist.

💉 Flu vaccination in pregnancy protects both mom and baby.
It lowers the risk of flu in babies during their first 6 months of life.

Maternal flu vaccination was associated with a reduced risk of influenza infection during infants' first 6 months of life, an age when they are too young to be vaccinated, a cohort study of nearly a quarter-million women and their babies found.

"Our study emphasizes that when you are vaccinating yourself in pregnancy, you are protecting yourself, but you are also protecting your infant at a crucial time," researcher Ousseny Zerbo, PhD, said.

One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is seeing a healthy mom and baby after months of care. Being a Gynecologic Oncologist means handling complex cases, but at the heart of it all—I’m an Obstetrician first. I continue to care for pregnant moms throughout their pregnancy and delivery.
