As rainy season begins, Dengue starts to rise again. The month of June is the start of rainy season in our country which is why June is declared as the dengue awareness month.

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to human by a mosquito. this type of mosquito breeds in clean water which are accumulated in containers such as in flower vases, tires, bottles and cans. Those containers can be the breeding places of mosquitoes. Usually those containers could collect water during rainy season, which is why mosquito of their kind are increasing and the reason Dengue fever is escalating.

According to the Department of Health, there are 6 symptoms of Dengue Fever, namely:
• High continuous fever lasting for 2-7 days
• Nausea/ vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Body weakness
• Bleeding tendencies from nose and gums
• Persistent red spots on the face, extremities and trunks

These symptoms appear 3-14 days after the infective bite.

Although there are no antiviral drugs to treat dengue fever, early diagnosis and clinical treatment can help patients.

CEREBRONS LABORATORY AND NEURODIAGNOSTIC CENTER offers a Dengue Duo test it is a combined test of Dengue NS1 Ag and Dengue IgG/IgM test; it is an antigen and antibody test in one. Dengue NS1 Ag test only detects Early Stages of Dengue fever, while Dengue IgG/IgM only detects Late Stages of the disease; hence, for a perfect diagnosis of dengue infection during all clinical stages.

Every member of the community can play an important role in dengue prevention. So let us be united and eradicate dengue once and for all.
