READ: Strengthening Resilience Through DRRM Engagement
Aligned with the Implementing Guidelines of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Program, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Marikina conducted its regular Division-wide DRRM Meeting for all School DRRM Coordinators/Focal Persons on August 1, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the SDO Marikina AVR.
The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Garvie L. Medina, Division DRRM Coordinator and PDO II of SGOD, and formally opened with the preliminaries (Nationalistic Song, Prayer, and DepEd Quality Policy).
Mr. Medina conveyed the heartfelt gratitude of Dr. Alejandro G. Ibaรฑez and Dr. Elizalde Q. Cena to all DRRM Coordinators and Teams for their hard work and dedication in supporting the LGUโs Camp Management efforts.
The meeting centered on the following agenda items:
1. Submission of 1st and 2nd Quarter DRRM Accomplishment Reports
2. Progress Report of the School Watching Team and Student-led Hazard Mapping
3. Progress Report on submission of the Learning and Service Continuity Plan (LSCP)
4. Completion Report of the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)
5. Comprehensive School Safety Checklist
6. Camp Management Reminders
7. Other related matters
Mr. Medina also presented the list of schools that complied with reporting requirements in line with existing DepEd Orders and issuances. He further explained the proper process of conducting School Watching Team and Student-led Hazard Mapping, providing guidance to student organizationsโparticularly the Marikina City Active Learners, Empowered and Resilient Team (MCALERT, formerly BERT)โon documentation and submission of reports to school administrators, barangays, and partner stakeholders.
Other key points discussed interactively with coordinators included:
- Table Guide on Class Suspension โ localized reference differentiating the causes of weather disturbances/calamities and corresponding actions, based on DepEd Order No. 22, s. 2024.
- Contingency Plan Updating โ regular updating of baseline data on student enrollment, building descriptions, hazard identification, and inventory of DRRM-related supplies, equipment, and offices.
- Incident Reporting โ presentation of the official template and discussion of required responses to ensure that school incidents are properly reported and addressed.
- EBEIS Reporting โ real-time submission of relevant information to Regional and Central Offices.
- PFA Training of the Region โ reminders to selected participants regarding preparations, including travel authority and fund source clarification.
- Service Credits/Compensatory Time-Off (SC/CTO) โ reiteration of the required documents and attachments for requests, in line with DepEd Order No. 013, s. 2024.
- Accreditation of Clubs (MCALERT and Red Cross Youth) โ guidance for advisers in completing accreditation requirements as mandated by the Youth Formation Division.
In closing, the SDO encouraged all coordinators to sustain their commendable work and ensure strict adherence to existing policies and orders to safeguard the safety, security, and well-being of students, teachers, staff, and volunteers. This effort is aligned with the Regional Officeโs Five-Priority Agenda, which emphasizes ensuring a learner-centered environment.
