Most of us who have seen video footages of the past week's tragedies involving vehicular incidents that killed innocent people, left us traumatized, maybe even distraught, angry. But the pain. How it must have been to the family, we feel, definitely. Masakit sa dibdib.
We have seen the sorrow of fathers losing their small children, big men weeping, in agony. Who wouldn't be? We can only imagine the pain of the rest of the family.
A small, small child who had been in the SCTEX accident, survived, lost both parents, in his young mind, not understanding what had happened; how he survived, how he felt at the time, we wouldn't know.
Painful. Painful to watch. So painful that you can't watch anymore new videos. So disturbing that you wake up in the middle of the night, still with the images in mind, and still cannot believe that these separate incidents happened, how it happened, and WHY?
The frustrating question of why???
But we move on. We have to.
Today and who knows how many more days weeks months years, we mourn with the families. But move on we will. That is the resilience of human spirit. We pray to God, to console most especially the families, and to include all of us, for we as a nation, are grieving, too.
May the lost of innocent lives be not in vain. May we move forward, with new laws and regulations, with proactive initiatives, to ensure that these horrible incidents do not happen again. With a little less corruption (we will take no corruption, if possible, thank you!), with infrastructure and processes that work to protect human lives. With elected and employed people working in government FOCUSED on real public service and not on fanaticism, idolization, self service, nor on creating chaos.
Today we grieve with the families, but with a strong resolve to make things better. We start with us.
Let us choose wisely the people we put in government every election.
