LGU Matanog Strengthens Nutrition Advocacy Through WFP SBCC Training
The LGU Matanog Health and Nutrition Department, through the Municipal Nutrition Action Office (MNAO), successfully participated in the Training on Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) conducted by the World Food Programme (WFP) for Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) partners.
The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders in promoting positive nutrition behaviors, proper food safety practices, and effective school-based nutrition interventions to support healthier learning environments for children.
During the activity, participants engaged in discussions, workshops, simulations, and practical exercises focused on:
✅ Introduction to SBCC and its importance in HGSF implementation
✅ Identification of key nutrition and health behaviors to promote in schools
✅ Guided walkthrough and utilization of SBCC toolkits
✅ Hands-on practice through modelling and simulation
✅ Development of school-level action plans and rollout strategies
The activity also emphasized the importance of integrating nutrition, health, education, and local food systems to improve the overall well-being and learning outcomes of school children in partner communities.
Through continuous participation in capacity-building activities and strong partnerships with organizations such as WFP, LGU Matanog remains committed to strengthening community-based nutrition programs and promoting healthier and more nutrition-sensitive schools for every learner.
