LGU Health Department Supports Project ABKD

The Local Government Unit (LGU) Health Department proudly joined and actively participated in Project ABKD (Awareness of Bombs that Kill lives and Destroy properties) ,a vital inter-agency initiative dedicated to educating the public about bomb threat awareness, proper safety protocols, and emergency response preparedness.

This project is not just about raising awareness, it’s about saving lives and protecting communities. It emphasizes the importance of being informed, alert, and equipped with the right knowledge to respond effectively to bomb-related threats and incidents.

As frontliners in public service and community welfare, the LGU Health Department took part by providing key insights on emergency medical response, trauma care, and first aid protocols during crisis situations. Our health personnel also collaborated with other responders to ensure a coordinated and efficient action plan in the event of emergencies.

We stand united with all LGU departments, including the DRRMO, Peace and Order Council, Public Information Office, Social Welfare, Human Resources, Municipal Agriculturist’s Office, Tresury Office, and Local Civil Registration Office in promoting a culture of safety, vigilance, and preparedness across all sectors.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding not only the health, but also the safety and security of our people.

Mother Class Successfully Conducted in Brgy. Kidama, Matanog

A successful Mother Class was conducted in Barangay Kidama, the farthest and one of the most geographically isolated communities in the Municipality of Matanog, located along the coastal area of Maguindanao del Norte.

Despite the long and challenging journey to reach the barangay, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Matanog, through the Health and Nutrition Department, and in partnership with the committed Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), made their way to bring vital health education directly to the community.

The session was attended by nine mothers, including pregnant women, lactating mothers, and mothers with children under five years old. Each participant showed strong interest and enthusiasm, actively engaging in discussions and activities aimed at improving maternal and child health, nutrition, and overall well-being.

The activity focused on important topics such as:
✅Proper prenatal and postnatal care
✅Exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding
✅Nutrition during the first 1,000 days
✅Hygiene and sanitation practices
Immunization awareness

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Kidama for warmly welcoming the team and generously providing snacks and meals for both participants and facilitators.

Special thanks also go to Mayor Rasul Ismael, the LGU Matanog, and the Philippine Marines for their continuous support and for providing thoughtful tokens to all participants—a small gesture that greatly encouraged attendance and participation.

This activity reflects the ongoing commitment of the LGU and partner agencies to reach even the most remote areas, ensuring no mother or child is left behind when it comes to health and nutrition services.

Mother Class for Expectant Mothers: A Meaningful Initiative

A successful and impactful Mother Class was recently conducted for expectant mothers from Barangay Bugasan Sur and Barangay Bugasan Norte, with six enthusiastic participants from each barangay. This health education session aimed to provide vital knowledge on prenatal care, maternal nutrition, childbirth preparation, and newborn care, equipping soon-to-be mothers with the confidence and skills they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy journey.

This important initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several key partners. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of Bugasan Sur, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Matanog, the Philippine Marines, and Member of Parliament Rasul Ismael for their unwavering support. Their commitment to community health and wellbeing played a critical role in the success of this activity.

With the help of these partners, we were able to foster a supportive learning environment where expectant mothers could engage, ask questions, and learn practical information that will benefit both them and their babies.

We look forward to continuing this kind of meaningful work in other communities, promoting maternal and child health as a shared responsibility and a pillar of stronger, healthier families.
