Davao Oriental Medical Society continues its post-quake assistance efforts by extending its support to the province's main hospital. It can be recalled that when the 7.4 earthquake struck, the beds and cot beds of Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center used to accommodate patients in makeshift tents were sorely lacking.

Recognizing this need, DOMS donated 10 cot beds and mattresses to the Emergency/Disaster Response Department of DOPMC to greatly enhance the hospital’s capacity to respond during emergencies and disasters such as fires, earthquakes, flooding, and other situations that result in a sudden influx of patients.

Present during the turnover were Dr. Lloyd Fyl Razo (President), Dr. Ivo Guiller Canuto (Vice President), Dr. Alrie Matilac (Secretary), and Dr. Joanne Marie Jusay (Auditor). Our senior member, Dr. Anita Valles was also there to grace the event.

The donation was gratefully received by Dr. Reden Bersaldo, Medical Director of DOPMC.

This activity was made possible through the joint efforts of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), DOMS, and component societies nationwide.

The Davao Oriental Medical Society (DOMS) conducted its second medical mission in response to the recent 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the region, extending much-needed medical aid to affected residents of Barangay Lucatan, Tarragona, Davao Oriental on November 4, 2025.

Over 150 patients received free medical consultations and medicines during the activity, which was held in coordination with the Municipal Health Office of Tarragona led by Dr. Joshua Seth Consigna, and supported by the barangay officials and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) of Lucatan under the leadership of Barangay Captain Hon. Rey Tambuco.

The DOMS medical team was composed of Dr. Lloyd Fyl Razo, Dr. Guiller Ivo Canuto, Dr. Alrie Matilac, Dr. Anita Valles, Dr. Tomasita Valles, and Dr. Thomas June Sales.

The Razo Medical Clinic staff also extended their support by serving as the medicine dispensing team, ensuring the efficient delivery of healthcare services to all beneficiaries.

This outreach was made possible through the joint efforts of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and the Davao Oriental Medical Society (DOMS), with financial assistance from various component societies nationwide.

The Davao Oriental Medical Society (DOMS), led by its officers- President Dr. Lloyd Fyl Razo, Vice President Dr. Guiller Ivo Canuto, and Secretary Dr. Alrie Matilac- turned over cot beds with foams to Dr. Ariel Maghari, Chief of Hospital of the Davao Oriental Provincial Hospital – Manay (DOPH-Manay).

The turnover took place at their temporary facility located at the Super Health Center in Poblacion, Manay, Davao Oriental.

It can be recalled that on October 10, 2025, a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Davao Region, causing severe damage to the DOPH-Manay building and rendering it structurally unsafe. As a result, hospital operations had to be transferred to the temporary Super Health Center facility.

This initiative was made possible through the joint efforts of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA), the Davao Oriental Medical Society, and various component societies from across the country, reflecting the strong spirit of unity and compassion within the medical community.

Dr. Maghari expressed his gratitude to DOMS and the PMA family for their generosity, emphasizing that the additional beds will be a great help in accommodating patients, especially during periods of high admissions.

Last October 21, 2025, the Davao Oriental Medical Society (DOMS), with the support of the Philippine Medical Association (PMA) and numerous component societies, conducted a medical mission and relief goods distribution at Sitio Dangilas, Barangay PM Sobrecarey, Caraga, Davao Oriental, one of the most remote and heavily affected areas by the recent earthquake.

Through this collaborative effort, DOMS was able to provide medical and dental services to around 600 individuals and distribute 235 packs of relief goods containing 5 kilograms of rice, 1 gallon of distilled water, and hygiene kits to affected families.

This mission was made possible through the partnership of the Provincial Health Office, MHO–Caraga, Borcelas Medical Clinic, Razo Medical Clinic, and various NGOs including Mati Masonic Lodge No. 90, Agila Shriners No. 105 – Mt. Hamiguitan Chapter, and APO Fraternity.

This only proves that even amid loss and uncertainty, the spirit of unity and compassion endures. For as long as there are hearts willing to serve, help will always be present.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Cotabato City Medical Society, headed by CCMS President Dr. Cheryl Sabio, for their generosity and service through the medical mission and relief efforts for the earthquake victims in Manay, Davao Oriental.

The society was able to extend help to the following areas: Severino Taming Elementary School, Brgy. Bagsak, Sitio Taming, Sitio Paradahan, San Isidro, and Tarragona.
