We urge all residents and visitors to take necessary precautions and prioritize their safety. If you plan to attend the Summerfrolic Rave Party, please remember the following:

1️⃣ Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the event to prevent dehydration.

2️⃣ Use sunscreen: Protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays by applying sunscreen regularly.

3️⃣ Practice responsible partying: Look out for your friends and avoid excessive alcohol consumption. If you see someone in distress, please notify event staff or medical personnel immediately.

4️⃣ Respect the environment: Keep the beaches and surrounding areas clean by properly disposing of trash and following designated pathways.

Also, the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center is currently in Code White status. This is in preparation for the expected influx of tourists and possible eventualities related to the upcoming Summerfrolic Rave Party, which will take place at Dahican Shores in the City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

Code White signifies our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our community. Our dedicated medical professionals and staff are prepared and ready to provide immediate and quality medical assistance, should the need arise during this event.

In the event of any medical emergency or if you require assistance, the City of Mati has prepositioned medical teams and first aid stations within the vicinity. However, for cases needing hospital care, you may proceed at the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center.

Let us all work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the Summerfrolic Rave Party. We thank you for your cooperation and wish you a fantastic time at this exciting event!

In a notable move to address problem on maternal mortality, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) conducted a Maternal Death Review (MDR) in the Municipality of Manay, Davao Oriental.

The meeting included OB-GYNE doctors who attended online, Provincial Health Office(PHO) staff, Manay Municipal Health Office personnel, and local officials, notably Mayor Jon Marco Dayanghirang and Hon. Alma Belle D. Bangkailan, the Barangay Captain of Zaragoza where a maternal death occurred.

Chaired by Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, the PHO meeting aimed to analyze the cases, identify causes, and devise strategies and way-forward plans to prevent maternal mortalities. The collaborative session fostered open dialogue, shared insights, and evidence-based recommendations. The outcomes will strengthen healthcare services and elevate maternal care standards, ensuring safer pregnancies in Manay and the whole of Davao Oriental.

Yesterday, we joined the Regional Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Forum together with the rest of the Regional Nutrition Council, fellow Nutrition Action Officers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars , partners/stakeholders and National Nutrition Council headed by Asst Secretary Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang.
I was also invited as part of the panelists to discuss the challenges and issues regarding Nutrition in our localities.
Our provincial government through the leadership of our Honorable Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon puts premium in health and nutrition especially in addressing poverty that is a major contributory factor for malnutrition.
It was an honor to be part of this endeavor.

DAVOR KICKS OFF IMMUNIZATION DRIVE VS. MEASLES, POLIO

The Municipality of Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental headed by Mayor Juanito P. Inojales, hosted the Provincial Launch of the Measles-Rubella and Bivalent Oral Poliovirus Vaccine (MR-bOPV) Supplemental Immunization Activity (SIA) dubbed Chikiting Ligtas on May 5, 2023. The launch highlighted the importance of vaccination in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and emphasized the critical role of healthcare workers in promoting public health and safety.

Dr. Annabelle P. Yumang, CESO III, the Regional Director of the Davao Center for Health Development, present during the event, commended the Provincial Government of Davao Oriental for its proactive approach to public health.

Children aged 6 months to 59 months will receive additional protection against measles and polio as a result of the month-long Chikiting Ligtas campaign, which will be undertaken and implemented throughout the province. This is in support of the National Government's ongoing efforts to stop the spread of these diseases, which can result in serious medical issues, including death.

The Department of Health and the Provincial Health Office of Davao Oriental encourage parents to bring their children to the closest immunization centers so they can get free measles-rubella and polio vaccines to ensure their protection against these illnesses.

Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, the Provincial Health Officer II, emphasized the importance of vaccination in ensuring the health and well-being of children and encouraged parents to have their children immunized.

“We will make it convenient for them. We will be visiting houses, barangay centers, and even schools in order to reach children who need these vaccines,” Bersaldo said.

Dr. Bersaldo also thanked the Municipal Health Office of Governor Generoso, led by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Monica Dianne G. Jualo-Añasco, for the successful hosting of the launch of the MR-bOPV SIA.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞

Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Davao Oriental together with our municipalities and city have been relentlessly working to promote and ensure the health and well-being of our citizens. One of the ways to achieve this goal is through various health programs and activities that are designed to cater to the needs of our community.

This week, we would like to highlight the successful implementation of several health programs and activities by the DOPMC and the PHO. These include, among others, the roll-out training for the Tanod Konta CoViD (TKC), the Adverse Events Following Immunization Information System, and the Epidemic-prone Disease Case Surveillance Information System (EDCS-IS). This report also discusses the many blood drives, training initiatives, and health consultations that took place. We are delighted to provide this report as a testament to the commitment and hard work of the DOPMC and PHO, with the strong support of our governor, the Hon. Corazon T. Nuñez-Malanyaon, whose combined efforts have improved the health outcomes for the people of Davao Oriental.

𝓦𝓮𝓮𝓴 𝓲𝓷 𝓟𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center accomplished several activities from March 20-25, 2023, aimed at promoting public health and ensuring access to quality healthcare services for all.

This report covers various activities, including our regular PHO meeting that discussed updates and progress of different health programs, the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit's Program Implementation Review, and the successful granular blood donation drives conducted in different barangays. Furthermore, the Department of Health conducted pilot testing of an online course on primary care competencies, and a Regional Reorientation on HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Anti-retroviral Treatment (ART) to provide our healthcare professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve those living with HIV.

The Provincial Government remains committed to supporting these efforts to improve the community's health and well-being through collaboration, communication, and community involvement. These accomplishments are significant milestones in the fight against various diseases, and the PHO and Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center's contributions will greatly contribute to achieving the goals of Universal Health Care.

𝓦𝓮𝓮𝓴 𝓲𝓷 𝓟𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓹𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮

To continue offering high-quality healthcare services to the residents of Davao Oriental, we at the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC), over the course of the last week, carried out a number of initiatives aimed at enhancing the province's health services.

Strongly supported by the provincial governor, Hon. Corazon T. Nuñez-Malanyaon, who prioritizes "Service with a Heart," the DOPMC conducted a Division Heads Meeting to prepare for the upcoming OB-GYNE Surgical Mission. The PHO, on the other hand, held a training on Family Planning Contraceptive Technology Updates and Objective Structured Competency Evaluation, which is meant to update the knowledge and skills of health service providers.

Furthermore, we undertook Feedbacking, Technical Assistance, and Active Surveillance on Water supplies in Banaybanay, with the goal of monitoring and improving the quality of the area's water supplies. We also held a VCCLM-Training of Trainers session, an EOH Consultative Meeting in Mati CHO, a Virtual Meeting with NCMH and USAID for the DOPMC's Mental Health and Wellness Center, a Granular Blood Donation in Banaybanay, and a Family Planning Consultative Meeting.

These activities illustrate our commitment to consistently improve the quality of health services in the province, led by our objective of providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare to the people of Davao Oriental.
