𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝘿𝙊𝙋𝙈𝘾 𝙃𝙀𝘼𝙇𝙎 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙮 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧𝙨

A consultative meeting with Barangay Captains and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) was held yesterday to discuss the implementation of the DOPMC H.E.A.L.S. (Hatid ay Epektibong Alaga at Libreng Serbisyo), a flagship healthcare program of the province.

The meeting was facilitated by the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) led by Chief of Hospital Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, and was also attended by City and Municipal Health Officers (C/MHOs), Chiefs of Hospitals, and Board Member Jossone Michael Dayanghirang.

This activity forms part of the series of preparations leading up to the official launching of DOPMC HEALS, a priority agenda of Governor Nelson "BOY" Dayanghirang, which aims to provide inclusive, cashless, and accessible healthcare services for the people of Davao Oriental.

𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙤𝙬: The Basic Research Ethics Training for DOPMC researchers, facilitated by the Department of Science and Technology–Regional Ethics Monitoring Board XI, is ongoing today until tomorrow.

With speakers Dr. Maria Elinore Alba-Concha and Mr. Rodel M. Roño, the training strengthens knowledge on ethical standards in research. This is one of the initial steps toward establishing the hospital’s Research Ethics Committee.

The Department of Health (DOH)– Regional Licensing and Enforcement Division (RLED) conducted a two-day visit at Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) yesterday and today to assess compliance with health facility standards and provide technical guidance for continuous service improvement.

DOPMC expressed its gratitude for the visit, seeing it as an opportunity to enhance hospital operations and ensure quality healthcare delivery.

With the insights gained from the DOH RLED, DOPMC commits to striving for better systems, facilities, and services to meet the growing healthcare needs of Davao Oriental.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊! 𝐃𝐎𝐏𝐌𝐂 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬

The Provincial Government of Davao Oriental, through the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC), officially launched the construction of three major healthcare facilities through a groundbreaking ceremony held on July 17, 2025.

The new projects include the Ambulatory Care Clinic, Patient’s Halfway House, and a Multipurpose Buildingall geared toward enhancing the province’s healthcare service delivery and ensuring better access to medical care, especially for indigent and far-flung communities.

In his message during the ceremony, Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang reiterated the administration’s dedication to inclusive and responsive public service.

Alongside the groundbreaking, the Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) XI also turned over essential medical equipment under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP), further boosting the hospital’s capacity to deliver efficient and life-saving services.

Once completed, these developments will significantly improve the overall capacity and efficiency of DOPMC and reflect the provincial government’s strong commitment to responsive and people-centered healthcare.

We started the morning right with a Zumba warm-up led by ZIN Pink Floyd Boyles 💃🕺 then hit the road with over 50 employees joining the run.

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, a known champion of Universal Health Care, visited Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) on July 1, 2025, signaling strong national support for the province’s primary government hospital.

Accompanied by newly elected Governor Hon. Nelson L. Dayanghirang, Senator Ejercito was welcomed by Provincial Health Officer II and Concurrent Chief of Hospital, Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo. The visit allowed the senator to see first-hand the current state of the hospital and its facilities.

During the visit, Dr. Bersaldo presented a comprehensive proposal outlining DOPMC’s immediate priorities including infrastructure improvement, modernization of equipment, and beautification of hospital surroundings to enhance patient experience and staff morale. Senator Ejercito, after going around the hospital grounds and interacting with healthcare personnel, gave his full support to the plans.

“I’ve always believed that quality healthcare should reach every corner of the country,” Ejercito said. “We will push for the needed support and funding at the national level to help make these plans a reality.”

Governor Dayanghirang expressed gratitude to the senator for taking the time to engage with the province’s healthcare frontliners and for giving importance to the medical needs of Davao Oriental.

Dr. Bersaldo likewise emphasized the significance of the visit. “It’s encouraging to know that the efforts of our healthcare workers are being recognized, and that our vision for a more efficient, people-centered hospital is being supported not only locally but also at the national level,” he said.

With clear plans on the table and national commitment now in place, Davao Oriental’s provincial hospital is poised for meaningful improvements in the years to come.

While others are quick to blame our healthcare workers for poor health services and customer service, we at Selah choose to do things differently.

Today, we held our very first 𝙆𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙨𝙘𝙝—a space created especially for our healthcare workers to connect and take care of their own well-being. Over coffee and honest conversations, they shared stories, challenges, and quiet laughs with Selah’s resident psychologist, Dr. Rose Anelyn V. Ceniza.

This pilot session gathered our Resilience Team—doctors, nurses and program managers who will soon roll out this experience to the rest of DOPMC’s workforce.

Happening just days after our new governor assumes office, this initiative aligns with the administration’s 10-point agenda to improve healthcare delivery across the province.

*Enhancing Service Delivery: Empowering DOPMC Social Services/Malasakit Center Staff and Partners*

In a bid to further improve the delivery of social services to its patients and their families, the Department of Health - Provincial Medical Center (DOPMC) recently conducted a capacity-building activity for its Social Services/Malasakit Center staff and partners.

The activity aimed to empower the staff and partners with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide holistic and patient-centered services to those in need. The training focused on enhancing their understanding of the hospital's social services program, as well as their roles and responsibilities in ensuring that patients receive comprehensive care.

According to DOPMC Chief Dr. Reden V. Bersaldo, the hospital is committed to providing quality healthcare services that address the physical, emotional, and social needs of its patients. "Our Social Services/Malasakit Center plays a vital role in this endeavor, and we are committed to supporting our staff and partners in their efforts to deliver exceptional service," Dr. Bersaldo said.

The capacity-building activity is part of DOPMC's ongoing efforts to enhance its service delivery and improve patient outcomes. By empowering its Social Services/Malasakit Center staff and partners, the hospital is ensuring that its patients receive the comprehensive care and support they need to achieve optimal health and well-being.
