Oral Prophylaxis
A procedure done for the teeth cleaning.
It removes tartar and plaque build-up from the surfaces of the teeth as well as those hidden in between and under the gums.

How often do I need to have an Oral Prophylaxis?

Oral prophylaxis is recommended to be done twice a year as a preventive measure, but should be performed every 3-4 months for patients with more severe periodontal disease.

💥 [Overbrushing Teeth]
I have been practising dentistry for 16 years in Singapore CBD (Tanjong Pagar).
One of the most common cause of teeth sensitivity nowadays is overbrushing and wearing away of healthy teeth. This can lead to severe teeth sensitivity and gum recession.

How can you prevent this from happening at your home?
1. Avoid sawing action when brushing teeth. Use the modified bass technique to brush.
2. Always use a toothbrush with soft bristles
3. Do not press down hard when you brush your teeth. Go easy with your hand pressure.
4. The yellow colour that you see near the gums is the natural colour of root and tooth. Do not mistaken that as decay and end up brushing harder and causing further tooth wear.

If your teeth is already worn down, you can do the following....
1. See your dentist for a filling to replace the worn off tooth surface.
2. If the wear or sensitivity is minimum, you can use toothpaste for sensitive teeth and monitor the area. Simply apply the toothpaste to the sensitive area. Leave it there for 5-10mins. After that then do your normal brushing. Do it for a few days till sensitivity decreased.

Once orthodontic treatment is done, patients can’t help but feel the excitement of getting those braces removed and finally achieving a new and beautiful smile. But thinking that it ends there? Nope, not yet! Patients still need to wear retainers. The use of retainers after braces is an essential part of the continuing maintenance of teeth and will go a long way towards keeping the same bite and smile that the braces have formed over the last few years. So to avoid relapses, please always wear your retainers! 😉

Odontectomy or Surgical removal of Impacted wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth become impacted when there is not enough room in the jaws to allow for all of the teeth to erupt into the mouth. Because the wisdom teeth are the last to erupt, due to insufficient room in the jaws to accommodate more teeth, the wisdom teeth become stuck in the jaws, i.e., impacted.

We offers several dental filling materials.
Teeth can be filled with porcelain; silver amalgam (which consists of mercury mixed with silver, tin, zinc, and copper); or tooth-colored, plastic, and materials called composite resin fillings.

There is also a material that contains glass particles and is known as glass ionomer. This material is used in ways similar to the use of composite resin fillings.
