Open Letter to the Faithful and Community Members
Dear Brethren,
We are pleased to announce that the Independent Eastern Catholic Church in Thailand is officially recognized as being under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Independent Eastern Catholic Church in the Philippines. This formal and structured relationship signifies a profound connection between our two branches of faith, fostering unity and collaboration in our shared spiritual journey.
This significant ecclesiastical union was ceremoniously inaugurated through the esteemed visit of His Grace Mar Eliyahzar Bar Levi to Thailand. During this pivotal occasion, His Grace undertook the sacred responsibilities of ordaining and consecrating members of our Thai congregation. This act of spiritual leadership officially welcomed and integrated our community into the broader fellowship of the Independent Eastern Catholic Church. This momentous event not only marked the formal acceptance of our congregation but also laid the foundation for a lasting canonical relationship characterized by shared spiritual leadership, cohesive governance, and consistent doctrinal oversight.
The presence of His Grace Mar Eliyahzar Bar Levi in Thailand underscored the importance of this ecclesiastical union, providing our congregation with a direct link to the spiritual and administrative guidance of the Philippine jurisdiction. This alignment ensures that we benefit from the rich spiritual heritage and theological insights of the Independent Eastern Catholic Church, while also adhering to governance protocols that maintain order and unity within our global community. The establishment of this relationship emphasizes our collective commitment to uphold the core tenets and values of the Independent Eastern Catholic tradition, fostering a unified expression of faith that transcends geographical boundaries.
We wish to clarify unequivocally that our congregation is not connected to the Roman Catholic Church. While we share historical roots and certain liturgical traditions with the Roman Catholic Church, the Independent Eastern Catholic Church operates as a distinct and autonomous entity. We have our own governance structures, theological perspectives, and ecclesiastical practices that differentiate us from the Roman Catholic tradition. Our mission is to heal, preach and teach and to preserve/promote the unique traditions and teachings of the Independent Eastern Catholic faith, as articulated and guided by the leadership of the Philippine jurisdiction. This mission is carried out with a deep sense of responsibility to serve the spiritual needs of our members in Thailand, providing them with a faith community that is both responsive to their needs and faithful to the rich heritage of the Independent Eastern Catholic Church.
Through this ecclesiastical relationship, the Independent Eastern Catholic Church in Thailand is empowered to engage with the local community, offering spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and a vibrant liturgical life that reflects the distinct identity of our church. The collaboration with the Philippine jurisdiction enhances our ability to fulfill our mission, ensuring that our congregation in Thailand remains a vital and integral part of the global Independent Eastern Catholic community.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our members and supporters for your continued faith and commitment. Together, we look forward to a future filled with spiritual growth, unity, and service.
In Faith and Fellowship,
Mar Eliyahzar Bar Levi
