Dr. Khamis is a Palestinian who studied medicine in FEU in the Philippines. He became a neurosurgeon who served both Israel and Palestine. Unfortunately, he was one of those caught in the middle of war when it broke out in October 2023.
I met him in 2019 when he became the guest speaker in our hospital conference. He was a nice and humble guy who spoke Tagalog fluently.
I still remember our conversation——
“Do you know how difficult it is to be a Palestinian? Every time I travel abroad, I would have to stay much longer for questioning… to prove that I am not a terrorist. Showing my doctor’s license is powerless over discrimination.”
I would like to share our photo in 2019 when he was still in better health vs. him in the video where I can see that he already has proud scars of struggle and heroism. He lost a bit of weight but gained more HUMANITY than any of those people waging war and genocide in Gaza.
