Each year on October 12, the Department of Family Medicine of Silliman University Medical Center Sumc Fi SUMC Family Medicine celebrates the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

The theme for WHPCD 2024 is "Ten Years Since the Resolution: How are we doing?"

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 2024 is a global observance dedicated to raising awareness about hospice and palliative care, essential services that improve the quality of life for individuals with life-limiting illnesses.

The Department SUMC Family Medicine participated in the Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and in the National Summit of Hospice Philippines on August 25-26, 2024 at Casa Ibarra, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.





Dr. Rowena Marie Samares, Department Chair,
Is joined here by Resident Doctor Trainee Dr. Dycart Colon, Dr Chuckie Miguel Bacolod (Internal Medicine Specialist, Home Care) and Dr. Fontini Cruz, Chief of La Libertad District Hospital.

Dr. Samares also participated in the Master Class given by the Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Network on September 27 2024.
