The National Kidney Month Celebration, a half morning event held at the Lamberto Macias Complex, was a success, drawing participants from across the community. The event, spearheaded by our very own esteemed nephrologists together with the Internal Medicine department of NOPH and SUMCFI aimed to raise awareness about kidney health, prevention of kidney diseases, and the importance of early detection.
Educational talks by our own residents discussing kidney-friendly diets and lifestyle modifications to prevent chronic kidney disease (CKD) made it engaging through interactive Q&A sessions.

The event concluded with a strong call to action, encouraging everyone to prioritize kidney health and support those battling kidney diseases.

Tracheostomy Care and Troubleshooting Workshop with ENT-Head and Neck Surgeon Dr. Ellison Alcala.

The workshop covers the essential aspects of tracheostomy management, including indications, types, and the step-by-step procedures for care and maintenance, including problem solving in issues pertaining to tracheostomy.

The IM Department is very grateful to Dr. Alcala for the knowledge and skills imparted to the medical residents.

HIV Awareness Run with NOPH IM residents and Consultants, nurses and staff and NOPH-TB and HIV Hub.

This is part of the social responsibility of health care workers to raise awareness on HIV and also fostering wellness among the healthcare workers especially our resident doctors in training.

A very memorable gathering to celebrate the success and milestones of the IM Department in achieving its Provisional Level II Accreditation by the Philippine College of Physicians. The White Coat Ceremony carries the noble message, as the white coat represents profound commitment, accountability, dedication, and professionalism in the medical field. It symbolizes an important milestone in medical training and commitment to excellence in serving the patients, and professional growth.

Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in partnership with the Department of Internal Medicine and TB DOTS Facility celebrate World TB Day with the theme: “For a Nation, YOUth can end TB!” Dr. Shellany Luba, Level II Resident discussed on the nature of the disease, its transmission, management and complications. Dr. Marc Angelo C. Llosa, the NOPH Chief of Hospital also gave his message on the importance of sustaining and strengthening the campaign towards a TB Free Nation. Dr. Dehuel B. Cuyacot, Pulmonologist emphasized the importance of seeking early consultation in order to treat TB. Indeed, this long-standing disease need united efforts among government agencies, community health care workers and cooperation and compliance of patients in the treatment process.

Special acknowledgment to the organizers of the event headed by Dr. Wilfredo T. Mata (IDS Rotator) and Dr. Shellany Luba (Pulmonology Rotator) and to all the residents and consultants who made this activity a success.
