🐾 DO YOU KNOW THE THREE CATEGORIES OF ANIMAL BITES?🐾

Everyone, not all animal bites have the same treatment! Based on DOH guidelines, there are three categories of animal bites that you need to know:

⚠️ CATEGORY I
• Feeding or touching the animal
• Licking on intact skin (no wound)
✓ Treatment: No need for anti-rabies vaccine. Just wash thoroughly with soap and water.

⚠️ CATEGORY II
• Scratches or abrasions without bleeding
• Bites that did not pe*****te the skin
• Minor scratches or light marks
✓ Treatment:Anti-rabies vaccine is needed. Wash the wound immediately for 10 minutes before going to the clinic.

⚠️ CATEGORY III
• Bites that pe*****ted the skin and are bleeding
• All category 2 that is near the head or neck
• Licking on broken skin (with wound)
• Exposure to eyes, nose, or mouth (mucous membranes)
✓ Treatment: This is an EMERGENCY! Go to the clinic immediately because anti-rabies vaccine PLUS Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) is required.

📌 REMEMBER: If you are bitten or scratched, wash immediately with soap and running water for 10 minutes. ❌Do not apply any ointments, creams, or any home remedies.
