Just like in life, failures do not define you. In cancer treatment, when a particular chemotherapy or treatment does not work for you or is defined as a "treatment failure", there are other options. Ask your friendly medical oncologists for your other options. As long as your body is still strong, you can try again. 😘

The ABCs of COLORECTAL CANCER
Philippine Society of Oncologists Mid Year Convention 2025

Key Points:
1. Colorectal cancer starts out as polyps. These can be detected by colonoscopy.
2. Screening with colonoscopy for average risk people starts at 45 years old.
3. Avoid over eating, excessive consumption of red meat and processed food, smoking and alcohol drinking.
4. If you have blood in your stool, prolonged constipation +/- alternating with diarrrhea, prolonged abdominal pain and/or unintentional weight loss, please consult a doctor.
5. Colorectal cancers may be cureable if diagnosed early.

INTEGRATED APPROACHES TO CARDIO-ONCOLOGY
DLS UMC Section of Cardiovascular Medicine Post Grad Course 2025

Key Points:
1. A lot of cancer treatments will have side effects to the heart.
2. Risk stratifying your patient prior to treatment is a must.
3. A baseline 2D echo with doppler with GLS + proBNP + Trop I is recommended for moderate to high risk patients. Consider doing this even for low risk patients.
4. A decline by >/= 15% in GLS even in the absence of EF changes warrants a discussion with your cardiologist if you should dose reduce or change to a less cardiotoxic drug.
5. For cancer survivors who received treatment that are potentially toxic to the heart, we follow the ABCDEs of cardiovascular risk assessment (pls see pic #3).

It’s Monday. And maybe it’s starting off a little heavy. The schedule is packed, the responsibilities feel endless, and the energy? Already running low.

But sometimes, the very things that wear us out are also the things we once asked God for…

A family to care for.
A job that provides.
A ministry to serve.
A business to build.
A calling to walk in.

Yes, it can be exhausting. But what a privilege it is, to be tired from something God gave as a blessing. Not every burden is bad. Some are just proof that we’re carrying something with eternal value.

So take a deep breath this Monday. Let this be your reminder: You’re not just busy, you’re walking in purpose. You’re not just tired, you’re trusted. And God’s grace is more than enough to carry you through the week ahead. 🙏🏻🤍

Princess Kate had an undisclosed type of cancer and underwent abdominal surgery in 2024. After surpassing this ordeal, she claimed to be a stronger version of herself.

"The hardest part comes after."
— Princess Kate of Wales

In her quiet yet powerful words, Princess Kate once opened up about something many don’t talk about:
“You put on a brave face during treatment, but the real struggle begins after.”

She was speaking about her experience with chemotherapy—a journey that doesn’t end when the last session does.

Because once the treatments stop…
The world expects you to bounce back.
To smile.
To “go back to normal.”
But the truth is, that “normal” no longer exists.

What follows is a deep emotional rollercoaster:
The medical team is no longer by your side every day.
The adrenaline of survival fades.
The exhaustion lingers.
And you’re left navigating a new version of yourself—physically, emotionally, mentally.

“It’s a much harder process than I ever imagined,” she said.

This isn’t just a story of resilience.
It’s a reminder: healing takes time.
Not just the body—but the soul.
So if you—or someone you love—is in that space after the storm, don’t rush the calm.
Let it come, slowly. Gently. With grace.

And above all, don’t expect to be who you were before.
You’re becoming someone even stronger.
