💊 Chemo targets fast-growing cells—hindi lang cancer, pati hair follicles, kaya nagkakaroon ng hair loss.

⏳ Usually starts 2–3 weeks after chemo, and yes— temporary lang. Tutubo ulit after chemo!

Hair or no hair, maganda ka pa rin. :-)

CAN I GET A FLU VACCINE IF I AM ON CHEMOTHERAPY?

Yes — you can (and generally should) get a flu vaccine during chemotherapy, with a few important considerations.

✅ Inactivated influenza vaccine (the flu shot) → SAFE and recommended.

🔹 Timing during chemo
1. Best given when blood counts are recovering (often just before the next cycle)
2. Avoid giving during profound neutropenia (very low white blood cell counts).
3. Even if response is blunted, partial protection is still beneficial.

✅ Vaccinate household contacts as well (cocooning strategy) to extend the protection.

✅ In the weeks leading up to flu season, doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff are also getting vaccinated—to reduce the risk of transmitting infection to patients and to protect ourselves from getting sick.

One thing I’ve learned from taking care of cancer patients…
they are among the MOST APPRECIATIVE people you will ever meet.

In the middle of chemotherapy, fatigue, and uncertainty,
they still find ways to say “thank you”—sometimes not just in words,
but with food lovingly prepared or thoughtfully brought.

A box of pastries.
Home-cooked meals.
Simple snacks shared with the whole team.

It’s never really about the food.
It’s about the gratitude, the trust, and the connection.
