Incubation period - the period between exposure to an infection and the appearance of the first symptoms

The incubation period of rabies infection in humans is typically between 20 and 90 days, although incubation periods as SHORT as 4 days and LONGER than 6 years have been documented. This variation is probably related to the site of inoculation, the severity of the wound, and the amount of virus introduced.

A 31-year-old factory worker in Cabuyao, Laguna, died of rabies on May 18—nine months after a dog bite and after receiving only one of the three recommended vaccine doses.

The symptoms started showing up on May 15, but the dog bite was way back in August 2024.
