It is a proud moment for Philippine science and innovation that BauerTek Farmaceutical Technologies Corporation, a homegrown firm based in Bulacan, in Central Luzon has received international recognition for the development of natural-based pharmaceuticals.

Founded by renowned Filipino scientist, inventor, and naturopath Dr. Richard Nixon Gomez, a Filipino company based in Guiguinto, Bulacan has brought honor to the Philippines by dominating the international stage.

Known for its natural health products, BauerTek Farmaceutical Technologies received three gold medals at the E-NNOVATE International Invention & Innovation Expo 2024, held in Krakow, Poland.

A major contributing factor to their success was the strong support they received from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), particularly under the leadership of Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., a leading advocate for homegrown innovation and science.

BauerTek's award-winning products are rooted in Filipino ingenuity and nature-based healing principles. The Black Garlic, developed in partnership with Mariano Marcos State University, was designed to aid patients suffering from nerve problems as well as some types of cancer. Another product called CanCur contains natural ingredients that can be used to treat epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and chronic pain. A powerful antioxidant, PiCur, can contribute to the prevention of cancer by preventing the growth of tumors.

Behind this achievement stands a strong partnership between science, innovation, and public service. Through DOST, BauerTek was provided with research grants, technical guidance, and access to laboratories, enabling it to meet international standards and bring its products to a global market. Aside from funding, Secretary Solidum also imparted vision: that Filipino innovation is capable of competing in the global market while also benefiting local communities.

BauerTek's global recognition is a win for the entire country, not just for the company. We can see from this example that when we invest in our own talents and resources, the world will take notice. With the guidance of leaders such as Secretary Solidum and DOST's support, Filipino-made innovations are now being celebrated around the world.

Most importantly, it reminds us that great things can be achieved with just the right combination of science, support, and visionary leadership.
